VolleyballGator Volleyball in Europe 2004

May 10-22, 2004

May 19, 2004

Dear Gator Fans,

How's this for a pre-game ritual: Stefanie, Lauren and Rachel climbed the steps of the Eiffel Tower, our-pre-game meal consisted of steak and French fries, and we rode the Metro to our match. Welcome to volleyball in Europe. The Gators lost in four games tonight to St. Cloud. Although we served game point in the fourth game, the 33-year-old left-handed outside hitter rotated to the front row and closed it out at 29-27. The key is we continue to learn about ourselves, and we are.

The Gators stop after getting off the Metro on the way to Wednesday's match.

Off the court, we know Jane speaks the best French on the team. Of course, when the waiter at lunch didn't understand her, she - out of frustration - asked a question in English, to which the waiter responded in perfect English.

Arlisa (left), Lance, Taylor, Katie, Matt, Sony enjoy a beautiful day at le Chateau de Versailles.

Today's adventure award goes to Lance and Arlisa for renting bikes and riding around the grounds of the le Chateau de Versailles. Tomorrow it's a visit to the Louvre. And for all you DaVinci Code readers - the Mona Lisa awaits.

P.S. For the record, the Eiffel Tower stair climbers did not do it for the exercise - rather, they wanted to save 6.50 in Euros.
