A multi-million dollar international sports complex able to accommodate top-caliber training and competition, festival- and tournament-type events for more than 30 individual and team sports. Facilities are designed to make this the world's premier sports destination for athletes and spectators alike -- a place alive with the drama and exhilarating fun of sports 365 days a year. It includes classrooms, office space and media facilities and will serve as headquarters for sporting events taking place throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. | Who: |
- A broad spectrum
of athletes, ranging from college teams to youth leagues, professionals
to leisure-time amateurs and seniors, will be involved in a variety
of athletic events as participants and spectators.
- The Atlanta
Braves made the complex their spring training home beginning in
1998. The complex also hosts the Braves' Gulf Coast Rookie League
and Instructional League activities.
- The Amateur
Athletic Union (AAU) annually conducts more than 30 championship
events at the sports complex.
- The Harlem
Globetrotters have made the complex their training site. An annual
holiday season series has also become a new tradition for the
Globetrotters at Walt Disney World Resort.
- In February
1998, the Official All Star Cafe opened its newest sports-theme
restaurant at the complex.
