- Eugene Tichenor
Eugene Tichenor, a Florida native who grew up just two hours from Gainesville, enters his fourth season as the video coordinator for the University of Florida volleyball program.
Tichenor joined the Gators in 2011 after graduating from UF, and after three years with the volleyball program, was hired full time in summer 2014. A five-year starter for the men’s club team at Florida, Tichenor was named an All-American his senior season. Tichenor was also a practice player for Florida head coach Mary Wise and the Gator volleyball team, spending three years of his academic career practicing with the Orange and Blue.
Tichenor received the opportunity of a lifetime in the summer of 2012 when he served as a technical assistant coach for the USA A2 program in Columbus after impressing volleyball legend Karch Kiraly and the USA Volleyball staff while assisting with the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts in February at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Tichenor, a Clearwater, Fla., native, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Information & Engineering from the University of Florida and not only handles the video and scouting duties along with associate head coach Dave Boos, but also coordinates the use of the Data Volley statistical analysis system and plays a part in UF’s camp enrollment process. He currently resides in Gainesville.
