"BEYOND THE STATS": Withdrew from school in mid-April holding five Gator records by himself and a part of two relay records as well... Capel left Florida with his name on six Florida records after two indoor and one outdoor season of competition: 200m indoors (20.26) and out (19.87), the 60m (6.62), tied for the 100m (10.03) and 55m indoors (6.15), and with both the 4x100m (38.75) and 4x200m (1:21.50) relay teams... By the end of the 2000 season he had lost his hold on the 100m and 4x100m records... Made his collegiate debut by beating Olympic Gold Medalist and 1999 USATF 100m Champion Dennis Mitchell in the 55m at the season-opening Florida Intercollegiates... First male Gator freshman to ever win an outdoor national championship... First Gator to ever be named outstanding male athlete of the NCAA Championships... First male Gator freshman to earn two individual All-America awards at the indoor championships... Had an outstanding rivalry with Auburn's Coby Miller going back to the 1999 NationsBank Invitational, the first time they faced each other indoors; Capel was 5-9 head-to-head vs. Miller during 1999 (finals only, 6-13 all races) but won the last four meetings in the finals... Was a scholarship wide receiver for the Florida football team, where he averaged 9.3 yards per reception and 7.0 yards per carry during the 1999 season...
