AS A JUNIOR (1998-99)
Singles: Season-high ITA rank: 25 (March 9); Final rank: 39;
Primary dual match position: Nos. 5-6... sprained her left
ankle during practice prior to the NCAA first round dual
matches and did not compete in the first or second rounds to
rest the injury... earned a bid into the NCAA Singles Champi-onship
for the third time... won the ITA South Region
Championships (Athens, Ga.), which included a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1
victory in the semifinals over Georgia’s Marissa Catlin, who
was ranked No. 2 in the country... in the finals of the ITA
Region Championships, Gator teammate Stephanie Nickitas
was forced to default the match due to injury... at the Rolex
Indoor Championships, lost in the first round of both the main
draw and the consolation draw... provided a crucial victory in
the finals of the National Team Indoor Championships
(Madison, Wis.), where she defeated Duke’s Kathy Sell 1-6,
6-3, 6-3 at the No. 6 position and helped UF to a 5-4 win and
the title... won the Gator Fall Classic Flight A draw, defeating
teammate Traci Green 6-4, 6-3 in the finals... reached the
finals of her first tournament competing as a Gator — the
Lady Gamecock Fall Classic (Columbia, S.C.) Flight A draw
— falling 6-1, 6-0 to Green in the finals... advanced to the
finals of the SEC Coaches Fall Classic (Fayetteville, Ark.)
Flight A consolation draw, dropping a 6-4, 6-1 result to
Mississippi’s Courtney Chapman... record in three-set
matches: 9-2.
Doubles: Season-high ITA rank: none; Final rank: none;
Primary dual match position: No. 3... played matches with
four different teammates this season... provided the clinching
team point with freshman Jessica Lehnhoff at the National
Team Indoor, where the pair defeated Duke’s Kathy Sell and
Brook Siebel 9-7 at the No. 3 position in the finals to give UF
the 5-4 win and the title... paired with Traci Green in her first
event competing as a Gator and won the Lady Gamecock
Classic Flight A draw, after defeating a pair of nationally
ranked opponents, including sixth-ranked Kelly Brown and
Massoumeh Emami from Kentucky 8-6 on the final day of
round-robin play... reached the semifinals of the SEC
Coaches Fall Classic with Stephanie Nickitas, losing 9-7 to
Georgia’s 23 rd -ranked Grey and Knox.
Honors: SEC Academic Honor Roll.
AT FLORIDA (1997-98) Baili Camino transferred to Florida during the summer of 1997, but was not given an official immediate release by the University of Alabama so she was forced to sit out the year... Camino practiced with the Gator team that went on to win the NCAA Championship, but was not permitted to travel or compete in any ITA or NCAA events during the year.
PRIOR TO FLORIDA
As a sophomore (1996-97)
Singles: Final ITA rank: 18; Primary dual match position: No.
1 (at Alabama)... Camino transferred from the University of
Alabama where as a sophomore she earned All-American
honors after advancing to the round of 16 at the NCAA
Championships... compiled a 28-12 singles record... posted
upset singles wins over the No. 3 and No. 7 ranked players
in the nation... 14-8 against ranked opponents.

No. 1 with Dominique Glinzler
As a freshman (1995-96)
Final ITA rank: 33; Primary dual match position: No. 1... final
ITA ranking of No. 33 was the highest ranked freshman in
Alabama program history... earned a record of 26-14
freshman year, playing at No. 1 singles ... named at-large
Singles All-SEC... Alabama’s team MVP.
High School
Attended New Braunfels in New Braunfels, Texas... ranked
No. 1 at John Newcombe Tennis Academy while in high
school... coached by Owen Davidson and Phil Hendrix at
New Braunfels... ranked as high as No. 12 in Florida and No.
7 in South America... ranked No. 1 in the 16’s and 18’s while
in Lima, Peru.
PERSONAL Full name is Bailiwick Camino...daughter of Luis and Rosa Maria Camino...born March 20, 1976 in Lima, Peru... a 1995 graduate of New Braunfels High School... moved to Miami from Peru in 1992... oldest of five children, including twins, Brad and Buck... sister Ilie and brothers, Junior, Brad and Buck all play tennis... father, Luis, was her first tennis coach and still advises her over the phone... majoring in health science.
