Spring 2013: Earned All-America honors after advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championships with partner Stephane Piro…Finished the year ranked No. 117 in singles and 16th in doubles with Piro…Had a record of 21-16 overall in singles matches with an 11-10 mark in dual matches and a 5-4 record in SEC singles matches…Defeated three ranked opponents on the season…Provided the clinching point in an upset win over No. 8 Kentucky…After starting the season playing in the top two positions with a combined 3-8 record, he compiled an 8-2 record at No. 3 singles…Paired with Piro to play at No. 1 doubles for most of the spring season…The duo upset the No. 7-ranked pair of Botha and Vieyra of Alabama to reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championships and earn All-America honors.

 

Fall 2012: Entered the fall ranked 17th in the nation…Finished with an 8-5 singles record, with three losses coming to nationally ranked opponents, and a 1-5 doubles record…Advanced to the quarterfinals at the 2012 USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships in Tallahassee, losing to teammate Florent Diep in the semifinals…Reached the quarterfinals at the 45th Annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga.…Ranked 19th in doubles with Billy Federhofer entering the fall.

 

JUNIOR

Spring 2012: Finished the 2011-12 season with a 22-17 singles mark and a 29-11 doubles record…The highest ranked Gator at the end of the season, finishing No. 38 in singles. Ranked No. 69 in the final doubles poll with Spencer Newman…Played at the No. 1 singles spot in every dual match he appeared in, finishing with an 11-12 dual record…Named to the All-SEC Second Team…Reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 37 in April…Faced 23 ranked opponents, including seven ranked in the top 10…Upset No. 2-ranked Dennis Nevolo of Illinois, 7-6 (5), 6-4, on Feb. 12…Upset No. 8-overall seed Sebastian Fanselow, 6-3, 6-4, in the opening round of the NCAA Singles Championships…Named to the SEC Community Service Team which recognizes volunteer activities in the community for the third year in row…Paired with Andrew Butz in doubles for most of the season, posting a 20-10 record and reaching No. 25 in the rankings…Teamed with Spencer Newman for the final nine matches in doubles and went 8-1. Got as high as No. 64 in the rankings in less than a month playing together.

 

Fall 2011: Entered the fall ranked No. 58 in the nation…Had a 9-3 record in singles action, with all three losses coming to nationally-ranked opponents…Started the season with a five-match win streak…Advanced to the Round of 16 at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships…Also reached the Round of 16 at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships…Compiled an 11-3 doubles record in tournament play, teaming with Andrew Butz (10-3) and Michael Alford (1-0)…Paired with Butz, reached the semifinals of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships after beating the No. 17 pair in the nation, 8-5, Doumbia and Taboada from Georgia…Butz and van Overbeek also reached the semifinals of the Southeast Regional Championships.

 

SOPHOMORE

Spring 2011: Finished the 2010-11 season with a 26-12 singles mark and a 19-11 doubles record…Ranked 117th in the final ITA national singles rankings… Reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 52 on Jan. 4… Named to the SEC Community Service Team which recognizes volunteer activities in the community for the second year in row…Went 13-10 in dual singles, playing through injuries for portions of the spring season and also missing a handful of matches…Went 10-5 in doubles after being paired with Andrew Butz to open the SEC schedule, and the duo went 4-0 at No. 3 doubles in Florida’s SEC Tournament championship run…After closing the fall with five straight victories, van Overbeek began the spring with six consecutive wins for a career-best 11-match win streak.

 

Fall 2010: Posted a 13-2 singles record after receiving his first national ranking as the preseason No. 105 player…Won the singles draw at the Texas Invitational in Austin, Texas, his first collegiate tournament championship…A quarterfinalist at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships in Gainesville…Also received his first national doubles ranking as the preseason No. 56 pair with Sekou Bangoura Jr., but the pair only played one match together in the fall, a loss in the Southeast Regionals…Also posted a 3-1 doubles record with Billy Federhofer, as the pair swept their three matches at the Gator Invitational.

 

FRESHMAN

Spring 2010: Enrolled at UF in January 2010…Named to the SEC All-Freshman Team after winning a conference-best four SEC Rookie of the Week honors throughout the season…Earned a spot on the SEC Community Team for his volunteer work at Shands Hospital and Stephen Foster Elementary School…Recognized on the All-Tournament Team at the SEC Tournament in Lexington, Ky.…Posted overall records of 16-6 in singles and 19-7 in doubles, and during dual match play went 15-5 in singles and 18-6 in doubles…Earned a 9-1 singles record in SEC play, all at the No. 4 position…Scored his first career victory over a ranked opponent with a defeat of Illinois’ then-No. 57 Abe Souza on Feb. 28, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(6)…Was 13-4 in doubles with Daniel Cash and 6-3 with Billy Federhofer…Won his last eight in a row with Cash and his final five next to Federhofer…Scored the clinching point in UF’s final two regular-season SEC contests (Georgia, South Carolina), as well as the win over Vanderbilt.

 

Prior to Florida

A four-time USTA Futures quarterfinalist…Competed in the main juniors draw at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2009…Achieved a high ranking of No. 54 in the ITF Junior World Rankings…Has seven current ATP ranking points…The No. 7-ranked recruit and a blue-chip ranking from tennisrecruiting.net.
