National/International Competition: Represented Iceland at
the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing…Reached three new personal-best marks at the
2011 ConocoPhillips National Championships in Palo Alto, Calif. in the 100 free
(56.65, 71st), 100 fly (1:00.15, 40th) and 200 IM
(2:18.39, 62nd)…Qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 100 fly, 100
back and 50 free…A 2006-08 NISCA All-American National Champion in the 50 free
(22.75)…Named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American in both 2005 and 2006…Was
ranked first in the top-16 USA Swimming polls in 2006 for her 15-16-year-old
age group…Placed 20th at Spring Nationals in the 100 backstroke in
2006 and 18th and Summer Nationals in the 100 back, also in
2006…Holds 19 individual junior Olympic gold medals.
At Florida
2011-12:
A 2012 five-time
All-American in both the 50 and 100 free, and as a member of the 200 and 400
freestyle relay, as well as the 400 medley relay team…Broke her own school
record in the 50 free at the 2012 NCAA Championships after touching in 21.89
and added a personal-best in the 100 free (48.49) while also at the
meet…Claimed bronze in the 50y free (22.01), just one-hundredths of a second
off her UF record at the 2012 SEC Championships…Appeared in the championship
finals of both the 100y fly and free, finishing in 52.80 and 49.14,
respectively for seventh in both races…Finished her senior campaign undefeated
in the 50 free throughout the regular season, claiming the top-spot in every
race she swam until she finished third at the SEC Championships…Tied Auburn’s
Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace, the SEC and NCAA record
holder, in the 50m Free touching in 25.61 to help propel Florida past Auburn in
her final meet at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center as a Florida Gator.
Additionally added three, second-place efforts against the Tigers in the 100y
free (57.71), 100y fly (1:01.41) and as a member of the 200y medley relay…Led
Florida to its first-ever title at the Georgia Tech Invitational after she
finished first in the 50y free (22.44), second in the 100y fly (53.68), led the
400y freestyle as well as the 200y and 400y medley relays to first-place
finishes…Clinched a sweep in the spring events against Michigan and Stanford
when she was the first swimmer to touch the wall in the 50m (25.74) and 100y
(49.35) free…Grabbed three top-three finishes against No. 1 Georgia (LCM) after
winning the 50m free (25.93), 100y fly (1:01.06) and second in the 100y free
(57.60)…Claimed three titles at the Dallas Classic: the 50y free (22.53), 100y
fly (53.27) and as part of the 200y freestyle relay…Won every event she swam at
Arkansas after she recorded a personal-best in the 100y back (54.28), stopped
the clock at 49.82 in the 100y free and helped both the 400y freestyle and
medley touch first…Recorded a career-low 1:02.51 to win the 100y breast in
Florida’s SEC opener against LSU…Won all but two of the 10 events in her senior
opener at the All-Florida invitational after she took the 50y free (22.90),
100y free (50.06), 100y fly (53.76) and led 200y and 400y freestyle and medley
relays to first-place finishes…Helped lead head coach Gregg Troy to his 12th
consecutive top-10 finish at NCAA’s.
2010-11: Picked up five All-America honors at
the 2011 NCAA Championships in the 50-yard free and as a member of both
the 200- and 400-yard free relays, and 200- and 400-yard medley
relays…Placed 11th overall in the 400 FR with Jamie Bohunicky, Shara Stafford and
Kirsten Smith to tie the seventh-fastest mark in school history (3:16.54)…Broke
the school record in the 50 free with a time of 22.00 at the SEC Championships
to take home the silver medal…Holds the third best record in the 100-yard fly
(52.20) and eighth best time for the 100 free (48.87) in the Florida record
books…Picked up her fourth ALL-SEC accolade as a 50 free second team
member…Selected to the 2011 SEC Academic Honor Roll…Swam in every meet on the
year for the Gators…Finished her junior season with 18 individual and five
relay victories…remained undefeated in the 50-free for 6 consecutive meets
while competing in the event, setting NCAA provisional marks each time… Grabbed
the both the 50 (22.41) and 100 free (49.29) victories over 103 and 98swimmers,
respectively at the Georgia Tech Invitational…Led Florida to its first place
finish at the All Florida Invitational with two individual victories in the 50
free and 100 fly, and as a member of the first place 200 FR team…Helped lead
head coach Gregg Troy to his 11th consecutive top-10 finish at
NCAA’s.
2009-10: A 2010 three-time All-American in the
200-yard free relay, 50 free and 200 medley relay…Part of the school-record 200
free relay NCAA championship squad (1:27.79) at the 2010 NCAA Championships…A
2010 All-SEC selection in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay…Recorded career
bests in the 50 free (22.25), 100 free (49.54) and 100 fly (53.50) at the 2010
SEC Championships…A member of the 2010 SEC Academic Honor Roll…Competed in
every single dual meet for the Gators…Placed first in the win over Auburn in
the 50 free (22.64)…Won the 100 breast against Florida Atlantic with a time of
1:04.08…Finished first in the 100 breast (1:04.61) in the win against Indian
River State College…Triumphed in the 50 free (22.87) and third in the 100 free
(50.92) in the rivalry victory over FSU…Won the 50 free (23.25) against 81
other swimmers at the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational…Took second in the 50 free
(23:02) in the win over Georgia…Placed fourth in the 100 breast (1:04.80) at
the SMU Classic in Dallas…Finished first in the 400 free relay (3:22.15) and
second in the 50 free (23.21) in the season-opening victory over Virginia.
2008-09: A 2009 All-American as a member of UF’s
200-yard freestyle relay at NCAAs…Additionally named a 2009 CSCAA Scholar
All-American and an SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll selection…Swam in the
200-yard free relay that finished ninth at NCAAs and was a member of the 15th-place
400 free relay in prelims…Additionally placed 38th individually in
the 50 free (22.61) and 54th in the 100-yard back (54.77)…A member
of the SEC Champion and record-setting 200-yard free relay (1:28.15) that
helped UF to it’s 17th SEC crown…Earned first team All-SEC for her
relay contributions…Finished sixth in the 50 free (22.56) after setting a
career best in a swim off after prelims (22.42)…Additionally placed 18th
in the 100-yard fly (54.31) at SECs in Auburn, Ala…Swam 10 dual meets for UF throughout
the duration of the season, with highlights against Michigan & Stanford and
Georgia, where she placed second in the 50 free, versus LSU where she took the
100 free win (50.69)…Additionally finished first in the 100 fly against South
Carolina (55.13), first in the 50 free (23.44) and 200 IM (2:03.10) against
FSU, first in the 100 free against Virginia.
Prior to Florida: A 14-time NISCA high
school All-American…The 2006 and 2007 Florida 3A State Champion in the 50
free…The 2007 Florida 3A State Champion and record holder in the 100 back
(54.39)…The 2006 and 2007 Orlando Sentinel Swimmer of the Year…The 2008
Pinch-a-Penny Swimmer of the Year…A member of the 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008
Pinch-a-Penny All-State Teams…The Lake Brantley High School most valuable
player of the year all four years of her tenure…Holds six Lake Brantley High
School records …Was also a member of the National Honor Society and French
Honor Society in high school.
