Swam the 100 and 200-meter backstroke races and the 200-meter freestyle at the 2009 U.S. Nationals, finishing 63rd (1:05.39), 64th (2:21.19) and 72nd (2:05.65), respectively, in all three…Reeled in a 57th-place finish with a career-best time of 2:02.56 in the 200-meter free at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials … Recorded a 2:03.91 in the 200-meter free, good for 31st, while finishing 46th in the 100-meter back (1:04.97) at the 2008 U.S. Open … Competed in the 2006 ConocoPhillips U.S. Nationals where she notched a time of 2:05.34 in the 200-meter free for an 85th-place finish … Also competed in the 50-meter free (27.46) at the national meet … Member of the 2003 USA Swimming National Junior Team … Was a Senior National Qualifier in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free and 100 back.

 

At Florida

2008-09: A 2009 SEC Academic Honor Roll selection … An NCAA automatic qualifier after she shattered the O’Connell Center Natatorium pool record in the 100-yard backstroke against Tennessee (52.81) … Finished 31st in the 100-yard back at the 2009 NCAA Championship meet in College Station, Texas, with a time of 53.43…Also swam the 200-yard back, clocking a 1:57.97 for 47th overall…Exhibitioned the 100 back (54.43) and 500 free (4:53.06) at the 2009 SEC Championships where the Lady Gators took home their 17th SEC Championship title…Fastest dual meet of the season came against Tennessee where she finished first in the 100-yard back (52.81) with an NCAA automatic cut and O’Dome record…Also finished third in the 200-yard back with a career-best time of 1:56.85…Saw action in 13 of Florida’s dual meets throughout the season, including the Princeton Invitational…Finished fourth in the 200-yard free (1:51.55) against South Carolina…Finished fourth in the 200 back and fifth in the 100 back as the Gators defeated Virginia on Jan. 7.

 

2007-08:  Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll … Touched in with a time of 4:51.93 in the 500 free, placed seventh overall in the 100 back and touched in first in her heat with a personal best time of 2:01.41 in the 200 back at the SEC Championships in Tuscaloosa … Earned first place honors in the 500 free (4:56.97) versus FAU … Had her best finish against Auburn in the 100-meter free, touching in with a time of 59.50 … Touched first in the 500 free (4:58.06) versus LSU … Touched third in the 100 back (58.05) and 200 back (2:05.92) in Kentucky… Touched sixth in the 400-meter free (4:28.45), seventh in the 100-meter free (1:00.52), eighth in the 200-meter back (2:28.41) and ninth in the 100-meter back (1:10.20) for her best individual finishes against Michigan … Picked up a fourth place finish in the 200 back (2:05.02) and a fifth place finish in the 100 back (57.85) in the season opener at Virginia.

 

2006-07: Earned an All-America honor at the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis … Came up with a 16th-place performance in the 100 back (54.44) at the NCAA meet … Set her career best with a clip of 53.95 in the event during prelims … Also competed in the 100 free, recording a personal-best 51.10 … Earned an NCAA provisional cut in the 100 back at the Georgia Last Chance Meet… Took fifth in the 100 back (54.92) in her first trip to the conference championships, earning the initial All-SEC of her career … Also finished 19th in the 200 back with a collegiate-best mark of 2:04.42 and 20th in the 500 free with a career-best 4:55.54 … Raced to runner-up honors in the 100 back (57.97) in the tri-meet sweep of the Alabama and South Carolina … Finished third in the 50 free (24.34) versus Indian River CC… Placed 29th in the 500 free (5:00.36) and 32nd in the 100 back (57.19) at the Texas Invite … Picked up the first win of her career against LSU, pacing the field in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.32 … Earned runner-up honors in the 100 back (56.77) and an eighth-place showing in the 200 back (2:08.85) versus Minnesota … Finished sixth in the 50 free against Georgia with a collegiate-best time of 24.25.

Born Sarah Margaret Peterson on April 18, 1988, in Louisville, Ky. … Daughter of Kyle and Tracy Peterson … Has one sibling, Elizabeth (23), who was a swimmer for Western Kentucky … Father played basketball at West Point before transferring to Purdue, and her grandfather played football at Ohio State … Chose Florida because of its educational and athletic opportunities … Also considered Tennessee and North Carolina in the decision process … Majoring in advertising.
