Competed in the U.S. Nationals in August 1998, where she qualified for the 2000 Olympic trials in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle events and the 200 butterfly...Represented the U.S. at the 1997 World University Games in Sicily, Italy, placing fifth in the 400-meter free (4:17.15)...qualified for the 1997 W.U.G. team by taking 12th in the 400 free (4:19.45) at Senior Nationals...claimed a bronze medal in the 200 fly and placed fifth in the 100 fly at the 1994 U.S. Olympic Festival...attended U.S. Swimming Olympic Development Camp in 1993.
NCAA Championships: 1998 - Swam on the 14th-place 800 free relay, 15th-place 400 medley relay and 16th-place 400 free relay for three honorable mention All-America honors...also finished 18th in the 500 free (4:48.73), 30th in the 200 free (1:49.45) and 31st in the 200 fly (2:02.91). 1997 - Reached the finals of the 500 free, placing fourth (4:44.67), while also taking 11th in the 200 free (1:48.46) and swimming second leg on the ninth-place 800 free relay to earn three All-America honors. 1996 - Competed in the mile for only the second time ever, finishing 13th with a then-personal-best time of 16:32.45 to earn All-America honorable mention...time in the 1650 free ranked eighth on UFÕs all-time performersÕ list...earned two additional All-America honors with a 12th-place showing in the 500 free (4:48.66) and as a member of the eighth-place 800 free relay (7:20.53).
1998 - Runner-up in the 200 free (1:48.63), while taking third in the 500 free (4:46.31) and 13th in the 200 fly (2:03.03), as well as swimming on the third-place 800 free relay and fourth-place 400 free and 400 medley relays... named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. 1997 - Added two more titles to her career total, defending her title in the 500 free (4:45.24), while also anchoring the winning 800 free relay (7:18.16)...also captured third in both the 200 free (1:48.49) and 200 fly (2:00.92), and swam third leg on the third-place 400 medley relay (3:44.28) and fifth-place 400 free relay (3:25.94)...named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, earning a perfect 4.00 GPA in the fall semester. 1996 - Placed third in the individual high point competition with 52 points, winning the 500 free (4:47.51), while also taking third in both the 200 free (1:49.59) and 1650 free (16:33.18) - swimming the mile for the first time ever...time in the 1650 free then ranked ninth on UFÕs all-time performersÕ list...at the same meet, led off the winning 800 free relay that set a pool record time of 7:21.61.
A 1995 graduate of Greater Latrobe High School...Five-time All-American...four-time Pennsylvania state champion (three consecutive 500 free titles, 1993-95, and 100 butterfly title, 1993)...currently holds all eight Greater Latrobe High School individual records and is a member of all three relay records...1995 YWCA/WomenÕs Sports Foundation...Westmoreland County High School Sportswoman of the Year...recipient of the U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award and the Michael Reed Rafferty Memorial award for sportsmanship, scholarship and dedication in 1995...1995 Pittsburgh Post Gazette and Tribune Review Athlete of the Week...named Greater Latrobe High School Outstanding Female Athlete four consecutive years (1992-95)...competed for Greater Latrobe High under Jim Jioio and C.M.U.
