National/International Competition: Participated in three events at the 2014 Phillips 66 National Championships and set a career-best time in the 200-meter butterfly (2:20.14)… Competed at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, where he finished 39th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:27.00… Competed in both the 1500 free (61st – 16:01.11) and the 200 IM (140th – 2:09.18) at the 2011 U.S. summer nationals… Three-time competitor at the Speedo Junior Nationals (2009, 2010, 2011) and the NCSA Junior Nationals (2010, 2011, 2012).
Clocked a season-best time of 3:52.91 in the 400-yard individual medley in the Gators Last Chance Meet… Placed fourth in both the 200-yard butterfly (1:48.04) and 400-yard individual medley (3:54.19) in UF’s home dual meet against Tennessee… Placed seventh in the B-Final of the 500-yard freestyle at the Georgia Tech Invitational, as he clocked a time of 4:30.91… Competed in two events in a dual meet at Kentucky and recorded his best-finish in the 200-yard butterfly, as he placed fifth in a time of 1:52.67… Competed in multiple events at the Pinch A Penny All Florida Invitational and recorded his best finish in the 400-yard IM, as he placed second in the B-Final with a time of 4:04.70… Honors: 2015 SEC Academic Honor Roll.
SEC Championships: Scored points in three events at the SEC Championships… Placed 13th in the 400-yard individual medley (3:50.28), 21st in the 500-yard freestyle (4:21.84) and 23rd in the 200-yard butterfly (1:47.51)… His time in the 200 fly was a personal-best… Won the 400-yard individual medley at the Bulldog Last Chance Meet with a personal-best time of 3:49.86… Honors: Named to the 2014 SEC Academic Honor Roll.
SEC Championships: Made it to the B-Finals of both the 200-yard butterfly (1:46.69) and the 400-yard individual medley (3:50.30) as he placed 14th and 15th overall, respectively… In addition, he placed 18th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:21.79…Swam a personal-best time of 15:34.59 in the 1,650-yard freestyle and posted a NCAA “B” standard time of 3:51.70 in the 400-yard individual medley at the Bulldog Last Chance Invitational… Placed third in the 200-yard butterfly (1:50.18) and fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (4:34.88) in a dual meet against Florida Atlantic.
Prior to Florida:
Four-time Texas state champion and Texas 4A record holder in the 200 IM…J.J. Pearce finished 5th at the 2012 Texas 4A state championships…Holds 27 club records and has the J.J. Pearce records in the 200 IM and 100 fly… Three-time NISCA All-American…Rated as a five-star recruit by Swimming World… Named the Dallas Morning News’ Rookie of the Year for the 2008-09 season… Parents are Eddie and Beth…Chose Florida over Virginia and Michigan.
