National/International Competition: Trained with the Real Canoe National Club in Madrid, Spain… Won a gold medal in the 400 IM at the European Comment Cup, while coming in third in the 200 IM… Captured a gold medal in the 400 IM at the 2010 European Youth Olympic Festival… Won the men’s 200 IM at the 2011 Spanish Long Course Championships…Owns 35 gold medals in several different age groups in Spain...Chose Florida because of the academics and the swimming program.

2011-12: 2012 400 IM SEC Champion, and UF’s lone freshman to claim a conference crown after he touched in an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 3:43.57 to earn All-SEC First Team honors…Picked up two All-America honors with a seventh-place effort in the 400 IM (3:45.21) and as a member of the 800 freestyle relay team. Added a 23rd-place swim in the 200 breast (1:57.40) and 24th-place effort in the 200 IM (1:45.71) at NCAAs…Also was a part of UF’s silver-medal winning 800 freestyle relay team, picked up another silver medal after he touched in 3:47.99 for second in the 200 breast and finished fourth in the 200 IM (1:45.10, personal best) in his first appearance at the conference championships…Recorded a personal-best time in the 200 fly (1:50.84) in the final meet of the season against Tennessee…Had three top-five finishes in the win over Auburn with a second-place swim in the 200m IM (2:07.72), third-place swim in the 100m breast (1:06.34) and fourth-place swim in the 200m breast (2:24.78)…Swam into the runner-up spot in the 200 IM at the Classic @ SMU after touching in 1:47.81and recorded a career-low swim in the 100 breast after stopping the clock at 56.45…Had three top-five finishes at the Georgia Tech Invitational after finishing the 400 IM third (3:52.06), the 200 IM fourth (1:49.30) and the 1,650 free fifth (15:38.34)…Won the 200 breast in 2:03.04 against FSU…Took home a trio of third-place finishes against Georgia in the 100m breast (1:06.34), 200m breast (2:23.07) and 400m IM (4:31.88)…Won his first collegiate individual victory against LSU in the 200 free after the clock was stopped at 1:40.14…Made his Gator debut at the All-Florida Invitational finishing second in four different events: 1,650 free (15:35.28, personal best), 100 breast (56.77), 200 breast (2:03.86) and 400 IM (4:05.63)
