2012-13: Named to the 2013 SEC Academic Honor Roll…Swam several personal-best times at the 2013 Bulldog Last Chance Invitational after posting a time of 4:26.33 in the 500 free and then touching the wall in 3:51.22 in the 400 IM…Also competed in the 1,650 free with a time of 15:24.86…Clocked in second in the 500 free with a time of 4:27.01, was third in the 1,000 free with a personal-best time of 9:05.97 and also recorded a personal-best in the 200 IM (1:52.46) swimming in exhibition against Tennessee…Finished fourth in both the 1,000 free (9:20.49) and the 500 free (4:34.78) against Florida Atlantic…Recorded a 14th place finish in the 1,650 free (15:36.03), was 19th in the 500 free (4:29.21), 22nd in the 400 IM (3:57.55) and also recorded a personal-best time in the 200 free with his leadoff split of the 800 free relay…Took fifth in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:29.40 at Florida State…Competed in exhibition in the 400 IM (4:04.99) and the 200 free (1:45.62) against Texas A&M…Finished fourth in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:27.85 and was fifth in the 500 free posting a time of 4:37.45 at South Carolina…Took sixth in the 500 free (4:35.43) and seventh in the 1,000 free (9:27.62) at Georgia…Recorded a top-10 finish after touching the wall in 15:57.04 in the 1,650 free to take sixth at the All-Florida Invitational.
2011-12: Closed out his freshman campaign with a fourth-place, 9:25.73 finish in the 1,000 free against Tennessee, and added a sixth-place effort in the 500 free (4:35.54)…Had a career meet at the 2012 Bulldog Invitational with personal-best performances in the 500 free (4:30.68), 1,650 free (15:21.41) and 400 IM (3:52.33)…Against Auburn, finished fifth in the 800m free with a 8:30.86 swim…Touched first in the 500 free and finished second in the 1,000 free with times of 4:34.04 and 9:19.77, respectively, against FAU…At the Georgia Tech Invitational, posted two top-10 finishes, touching eighth in the 500 free (4:31.63) and 10th in the 1,650 free (15:52.58)…Finished the 500 free in 4:36.88 and 1,000 free in 9:27.45 for fourth and fifth, respectively, against rival FSU…Made his collegiate debut at the All-Florida Invitational.
Prior to Florida: Attended P.K. Yonge High School…Trained with Gator Swim Club under head coach Chris Oliver…A five-star recruit by Swimming World Magazine…One of the nation’s top distance swimmers…High school swim team was created as a result of Silva’s potential…Named a NISCA High School All-American…Captured a silver medal in the 500 free at the 2010 state meet.
