National/International Competition: Totaled three
personal-best performances at the 2011 ConocoPhillips National Championships in
Palo Alto, Calif., when he finished 89th in the 200 back (2:06.15),
75th in the 200 IM (2:05.03) and 64th in the 400 IM
(4:27.32)…Finished 31st in the 400-meter IM (4:28.34), 59th
in the 200-meter backstroke (2:06.96) and 67th in the 200 IM
(2:07.10) at the 2010 Long Course U.S. Nationals in Irvine, Calif.,…A NISCA
All-American…Also a Junior/Senior National qualifier…A member of the 2007-08
USA National Junior Team.
At Florida
2011-12: Named to the 2012 SEC Academic Honor
Roll for the third consecutive year…Made three final appearances at the SEC
Championships for the Gators, taking ninth in the 400 IM (3:48.52), 14th
in the 200 back (1:47.29) and 15th in the 200 IM (1:49.16)…Against
Tennessee, finished sixth in both the 1,000 free (personal best, 9:34.09) and
200 breast (2:09.79)…In the Gators win over Auburn, finished fourth in the 200m
back (2:09.95) and fifth in the 200m IM (2:10.74)…Finished third in the 100
breast with a career-low swim of 1:00.29 and fourth in the 200 back (1:54.37)
against FAU…At the Georgia Tech Invitational, finished eighth in the 200 IM
(1:53.04), 11th in the 400 IM (3:55.97), 13th in the 500
free (4:33.48) and 18th in the 200 back (1:53.25)…Against rival FSU,
touched fifth in the 200 IM (1:54.13) and sixth in the 100 breast
(1:01.06)…Posted a 2:10.84 swim in the 200m back against Georgia to touch the
wall fourth…In the SEC opener against LSU, took third in the 200 IM
(1:54.13)…Opened the season at the All-Florida Invitational, with a
personal-best in the 1,650 free (15:02.84) and fourth-place finish in the 200
back (1:51.21).
2010-11: A 2011 SEC Academic Honor Roll
selection…Tallied two personal-best performances at the 2011 SEC Championships
– finishing the 400 IM in 3:46.33 for sixth place and completing the 200 back
in 1:46.22 for 12th…Was one of four UF swimmers to finish in the top
10 of the 400 IM at the conference championships, also finished 11th
in the 200 IM (1:47.01)…Took second in the 200 back in the victory over Indian
River State College, touching in 1:51.41…Captured his first individual victory
of the 2010-11 season against Florida Atlantic in the 400 IM, finishing in
3:57.70. Also finished second in the 1,000 free with a career-high 9:34.61
mark…Took third in the 200 back against Georgia Tech (1:52.98)…Finished eighth
out of 40 competitors in the 400 IM (3:58.95) at the Georgia Tech Invite…Opened
the season at the All-Florida Invitational with a second-place, 3:58.33
performance in the 400 IM.
2009-10: Finished seventh in the 400 IM
(3:48.15), 12th in the 200 back (1:46.77) and 13th in the
200 IM at 2010 SEC Championships (1:46.86)…Placed third in the 200 medley relay
(1:35.54) and second in the 200 breast (2:09.23) against FAU...At the Georgia
Invitational, finished 5th in the 400 medley relay (3:26.18), eighth
in the 200 medley relay (1:35.99), seventh in the 400 IM (4:00.09), sixth in
the 400 IM (3:58.76), third in the 200 back (1:50.83) and 10th in
the 200 breast (2:09.22)…Took fourth in the 200 IM (1:52.29), second in the 400
IM (3:56.21) and 10th in the 400 free relay (3:08.22) at the Georgia
Tech Invitational.
2008-09: A 2009 CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar
All-American…Secured NCAA provisional qualifying marks in both the 200 &
400 IM for the Gators…Earned Freshman All-SEC honors as the top freshman
finisher in the 200 IM (11th), clocking a 1:46.86, at the 2009 SEC
Championship meet in Auburn, Ala. …Also clocked a 3:48.63 in the championship
finals of the 400-yard IM at SECs, finishing sixth overall with an NCAA
provisional qualifying mark as the Gators took second at the 2009 league meet
for the eighth consecutive season…Claimed the Princeton Invite title in the 200
IM (1:47.87) and took second in the 400 IM with a provisional qualifying mark
of 3:49.64…Also finished fourth in the 200 back (1:48.68) and 14th
in the 100 back …Swam the third place 400-yard medley relay in Princeton, where
he led off the relay with a career-best 51.13 backstroke leg…Swam season-best
times in the 100 & 200-yard free races at the 2009 Florida Swimming Senior
Championships in Orlando…Swam a 1:00.94 in the 100 breast at LSU, his best mark
of the season in the event, while rounding out the dual meet season with a
2:11.74 in the 200 breast against Florida Atlantic.
Prior to Florida: The 2007 Ohio State
Champion in the 200 IM…Named a high school Academic All-American…Senior House
Captain…Member of Academic Council…Involved with Phi Lambda Pi, a community
service program …Coached at Archbishop Moeller by Bill Whatley.
