National/International Competition: A member of the USA Junior National Team and 2010 Junior Pan-Pacific Team… Captured the gold medal in the 400 free at the 2010 Pan-Pacific Junior Championship in Maui, Hawaii, while also finishing third in both the 200 and 800 free, being named the Male Performer of the Meet for his efforts… The 2010 Long Course Junior National High Point Award winner…2008 Olympic Trials participant

At Florida

2011-12: Earned the first All-America honor of his career as a part of the 800 free relay team that finished seventh at the 2012 NCAA Championships…In his first NCAA appearance, finished 26th in the 1,650 free (15:15.02), 30th in the 500 free (4:21.08) and 31st in the 200 free (1:36.88)…Finished third in the 500 free (4:19.12), eighth in the 1,650 free (15:14.60), and 10th in the 200 free (1:36.86) – the highest of any freshman in the event – to earn SEC All-Freshman team honors…Part of the 800 free relay team at the SEC Championships that swam the eighth fastest time in UF history (6:20.86)…Swam the fastest 200, 500, 1,000 and 1,650 free on the year by a Gator freshman…Against Tennessee, took second in the 1,000 free (9:20.78) and third in the 500 free (4:31.25)…Finished three-four in the mid-distance events against Auburn with a 4:04.54 mark in the 400m free and 8:25.41 in the 800m free…At the Classic @ SMU, finished eighth in the 500 free (4:25.47) and ninth in the 200 free (1:38.82)…Collected three top-10 finishes at the Georgia Tech Invitational with a fifth-place swim in both the 200 (1:40.46) and 500 free (4:30.43), seventh-place swim in the 1,650 free (15:41.56) and helped the 800 free relay team finish first…Grabbed a pair of runner-up finishes against FSU in the 500 (4:27.27) and 1,000 free (9:11.35)…Finished fourth in both the 200m (1:55.99) and 400m (4:05.84) free against Georgia… In his NCAA debut, swam a 1:39.79 in the 200 free to touch second, and recorded personal-best swims in the 200 back (1:54.31) and 200 fly (1:56.08)…Helped lead head coach Gregg Troy to his 12th consecutive top-10 finish at NCAA’s.


Prior to Florida:
Attended Riverview High School…Trains at Sarasota YMCA under head coach Steve Brown…Rated the No. 2 men’s swimming recruit in the country by CollegeSwimming.com…Named a 2010 NISCA/Speedo Swimming and Diving All-American…Named to the 2010 Pinch-A-Penny All-State Team after winning state titles in the 200 IM and 500 free…Broke the national junior record with a 3:52.32 finish in the 400 free during the prelims of the 2010 U.S. Junior Nationals in Irvine, Calif.,…Won the 400 and 800 free, and 400 IM, while placing second in the 200 free and third in the 1,500 free…Six-time FHSAA state champion…Three-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American…FHSAA state record holder in the 500 free, as well as a five-time national age group record holder…Has swum since he was eight years old…Chose Florida over Texas, Stanford, North Carolina and Georgia.
