National/International Competition: Competed in the 2012 London Olympics for Poland, swimming a time of 1:57.07 in the 200 fly and 2:00.45 in the 200 IM…A member of the Polish National Team…Represented Poland at the 2011 FINA World Championships…Swam both the 200 fly and 200 IM on the world stage in Shanghai, China, reaching the semifinals of each race and recording personal best times in each event of 1:56.13 and 1:59.77, respectively…Recorded two second-place finishes at the Michigan Grand Prix in the 100 and 200 fly, while also taking ninth in the 200 IM… Took sixth in the men’s 200 fly (1:53.09) at the 2010 FINA Short-Course World Championships in Dubai, UAE…Also took 19th in the 200 IM and 23rd in the 100 fly in his first international finals at the Short-Course World Championships…Took fifth in the 200 fly at the 2010 European Championships…Won the 100 fly and came in second in the 200 fly at the 2010 Junior European Championships…Won the same events in 2009 at the Junior European Championships…Placed fifth in the 400 IM at the 2008 World Junior Championships.


At Florida

2012-13: Collected first NCAA title as part of the 800 free relay that set a school record (6:13.27) at the 2013 NCAA Championships…Did not finish lower than second at the NCAAs, recording a trio of runner-up finishes, set two school records and three personal-bests…Finished second in the 200 IM (1:41.45), second in the 200 fly in a school record time of 1:40.62 and added his second school record posting a time of 45.35 in the 100 fly…Defended his SEC title in the 200 fly with a NCAA “A” time of 1:42.17 and added another with his win in the 100 fly touching the wall in 46.02 at the SEC Championships...He also anchored the 800 free relay (6:14.76) that finished first at the SEC Championships with the then second-best time in school history...Finished first in the 200 free (1:37.85) in the win over Tennessee at home... Named SEC Male Swimmer of the Week for his performance at Auburn…Won a trio of events at Auburn, finishing first in the 200 fly (1:45.96), 100 fly (47.65) and 200 IM (1:46.99) to defeat the Tigers…Claimed the win in the 100 fly with a time of 47.78 at the SMU Classic, also had seventh place finishes in the 200 back (1:45.84) and 200 fly (1:45.81)...Won the 200 fly in a meet record time of 1:42.88 at the Ohio State Invitational, swam the fastest time in the 100 fly (46.99) to win the B Final...Captured wins in the 100 fly (48.38) and 200 free (1:39.80), while adding a second place finish in the 200 IM (1:50.04) against Florida State...Won the 100 fly after posting a time of 49.11 and was a part of the first place 400 free relay (2:59.11) and 200 medley relay (1:29.57) against Texas A&M...Swept the backstroke events, as he took first in the 100 and 200 back with times of 49.71 and 1:49.96 respectively against South Carolina...Won the 100 fly clocking in with a time of 48.24 and finished second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:46.00 in the win over Georgia...Won the 100 fly (48.16), finished second in the 200 fly (1:47.20) and 200 IM (1:48.26), third in the 200 free (1:41.49) and fourth in the 200 breast (2:07.07) at the All-Florida Invitational…Helped lead the team to the 13th consecutive top-10 finish at the NCAA’s under head coach Gregg Troy.


2011-12: Named to the 2012 SEC Academic Honor Roll…Earned a team-high six All-America recognitions to conclude his sophomore campaign – three individually and three as a member of a relay team…Collected three top-three finishes in the 100 fly, 200 fly and 200 IM  at the 2012 NCAA Championships to lead the Gators to an eighth-place finish…Was the 2012 NCAA runner-up in the 200 IM, with a 1:42.26 swim, the third fastest in Florida History…Recorded the two fastest 100 fly (45.86) and 200 fly (1:41.36) in Gator swimming history after finishing third in both races at the NCAA meet…Named the SEC Male Swimmer of the Year following his performance at the conference championships where he won three individual events…Awarded the Commissioner’s Trophy, high point award, after he was the only swimmer to claim three individual crowns and rack up 60 points at the SEC Championships…Won the 200 fly (1:42.43) as well as the 200 IM (1:43.01, personal best) and 200 free (1:34.49, personal best) in the fourth and ninth-fastest time in UF history, respectively…Selected as the Counsilman Hunsaker Division I National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week after his performance at the SEC Championships…Selected as the SEC Male Swimmer of the Week in back-to-back weeks for his efforts against Tennessee, where he won both the 100 fly (47.77) and 200 free (1:37.65) and Auburn where he swept both fly events winning the 100m in 54.86 and 200m in 2:01.18, and added a first-place finish in the 200m IM (2:05.08)…Won the 200 fly (1:43.62) at the Dallas Classic and added a runner-up effort in the 100 fly (47.81)…Finished first in both the 200 fly (1:46.58) and 200 IM (1:48/54) at the Georgia Tech Invitational…Swept both fly races in back-to-back meets, first against Georgia finishing the 100m in 56.48 and 200m in 2:03.98, and then accomplished the same feat against rival FSU, taking the 100y fly in 49.06 and 200y fly in 1:47.41…Opened the 2011-12 campaign at the All-Florida Invitational, claiming the 100 and 200 fly titles in 48.85 and 1:47.31, respectively as well as the 200 IM in 1:48.49…Helped lead head coach Gregg Troy to his 12th consecutive top-10 finish at NCAA’s.



2010-11: Selected as a 2011 CSCAA Division I Scholar All-America Award Winner…Earned five All-America honors at the 2011 NCAA Championships, individually in the both the 100 and 200 fly, as well as the 200 IM. Also earned All-America honors as a member of the 200 and 400 medley relay team…Was one of two freshman to place in the top eight in four different events at the National Championships…Named the 2011 SEC Male Freshman Swimmer of the Year, while also picking up four All-SEC honors…Swam UF’s fastest time of the season in three individual events (100 fly, 46.03; 200 fly, 1:42.13; 200 IM, 1:43.69) and two relay events…Became the first Gator since Ryan Lochte in 2006, and the first UF freshman since Steve McDonnell in 1970 to win the SEC crown in the 100 fly...Part of the SEC Championship 200 and 400 medley relay teams…Captured silver in both the 200 IM and fly in his conference championship debut…Clinched two individual victories against Tennessee, sweeping both fly events…Won the 100 fly and finished second in both the 200 fly and 200 IM against SEC foe Auburn…Made his collegiate debut against Georgia Tech, capturing third in the 200 breast and as a part of the first-place 200 medley relay team…Helped lead head coach Gregg Troy to his 11th consecutive top-10 finish at NCAA’s.


High School: Graduated from SMS Kraków where he swam under head coach Maria Jakóbik... Member of the WarszawiankaWarszawa club team.


Personal: Was born Marcin Cieslak on April 7, 1992, to parents Krzysztof and Elzbieta Cieslak…Has one sibling, Tomek (20)…Enjoys surfing and long-boarding in his spare time…Future goal is to win an Olympic medal…Chose Florida for the warm weather and the quality of academics and athletics…Majoring in economics.
