Swam at the 2009 U.S. Nationals/World Trials…Placed 10th in the 1,500-meter free (15:27.94) with a career-best mark, 16th overall in the 400-meter free (3:55.49) and 42nd in the 200 IM (4:35.22) at World Trials…Recorded a career-best in the 400-meter free at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials, placing 19th (3:54.86) and also recorded a 15:51.71 in the 1,500-meter free (48th) at Olympic Trials … Placed eighth in the 1500-meter free and sixth in the 400 IM at the 2007 Spring Nationals.


At Florida

2010-11: Finished ninth in the 1,650 free to earn his second career All-America honor…Placed fifth in the 1,650 free at the SEC Championships and 13th in the 500 free…Won the 200 back and took fourth in the 200 free against Indian River State College…Finished second in the 1,000 free and fourth in the 500 free in win over Tennessee…Took third in the 1,000 free and fourth in the 500 free at Auburn…Placed third in the 200 back and fourth in the 200 free against FAU…Was third in the 1,00 free against Georgia Tech…Finished second in the 1,000 free against FSU…Took second in the 1,650 free  and seventh in the 500 free at the Georgia Tech Invite…Won the 1,650 free and 200 back and finished second in the 500 free at the All Florida Invite…


2009-10: A 2010 NCAA qualifier… Placed 25th in the 1,650 free (15:15. 41) at the 2010 NCAA Championships...Won the 1,000 free against Auburn…Took second in the 200 free vs. FAU…Captured the 1,000 free and placed second in the 500 free in the win over LSU…Finished fifth in the 1,650 free at the Georgia Tech Invitational.


2008-09: A 2009 NCAA qualifier…Was honored as a 2009 CSCAA Scholar All-American for his work in both the pool and classroom…Helped the Gators to a second-place finish at the 2009 SEC Championship meet…Secured NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the 500 free, the mile and 400 IM…Swam eight career-best marks his sophomore campaign…Placed 20th in the mile (15:02.44), 26th in the 400 IM (3:50.44) and 34th in the 500 free (4:21.44) while swimming for the Gators at the 2009 NCAA Championships…Collected a fifth-place finish in the mile (15:00.33), ninth-place finish in the 500 free at SECs (4:16.74) and also took ninth in the 400 IM (3:48.94) – all career-bests at the league meet…Dual meet highlights included a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard free against SEC foe Tennessee, a meet the Gators won…Also took second in the 1,000-yard free as UF’s highest finisher in the dual with Auburn…Placed third in the 1,000 free and fourth in the 500 free against Florida State in Tallahassee.


2007-08: Earned an All-America honor as part of the 11th-place 200 MR squad (1:27.53) at the NCAA Championships in Seattle, while competing individually in the 500 free, 1,650 free and 400 IM … Recorded an eighth-place finish in the 1,650 free with an NCAA provisional-qualifying time of 15:11.98 at the SEC Championships on his way to ninth in the 500 (4:20.20), an NCAA provisional mark … Topped the field in the 500 free (4:29.19) in the tri-meet sweep of Purdue and Indian River CC … Earned the victory in the 1,000 free (9:11.94) to help the Gators defeat Purdue at home … Paced the field in both the 1,500-meter free (15:38.25) and the 400-meter IM (4:33.94) at the Alabama Invitational … Took third in the 1,650 free (15:38.12) and finished fourth in both the 500 free (4:31.33) and the 400 IM (4:01.06) at Purdue’s Boilermaker Invitational … Won the 1,000 free (9:18.21) in the road victory over Kentucky … Made his collegiate debut in the win over Virginia with a third-place finish in the 1,000 free (9:21.59).


High School

Named Swimmer of the Year twice during his high school career … Holds the Florida state record in the 500 free with a time of 4:23.48 … Was the state champion in the 200 IM his senior year and the 100 IM his junior year … Finished as the state runner-up his junior season in the 500 free.

Born Yoelvis Pedraza on July 28, 1987, in Santa Clara, Cuba … Son of Luisa E. … Has one brother, Yoandy Pedraza (27) … Chose Florida for the fast swimming and excellent, hard work and excellent academics … Lists his interests outside the water as cars, shopping and hanging out with friends … His future ambition is to be a dentist.
