Represented Puerto Rico at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome, Italy, clocking 57th-place time of 1:51.09 in the 200-meter free…Also placed 65th-place finish in the 50-meter free (23.38) and 73rd in the 100 free (50.65) at Worlds…2006-07 IRCC (NJCAA) National Team Champion … Record holder in the 800 free relay for the IRCC (NJCAA) … Member of the Puerto Rico National Team … Received four gold medals in the 2007 CCCAN.

 

At Florida

2008-09: A member of UF’s fifth-place NCAA Championship team…Picked up an All-American honor as a member of Florida’s 200-yard free relay at NCAAs in College Station, Texas, where he swam on the eighth-place team that clocked a 1:16.76…Swam in a total of 13 dual and invitational meets for the Gators his first season on campus... Swam the third place 200-yard medley relay at SECs (1:25.14), as well as the fourth-place 200-yard free relay…Finished 19th in the 50 free (20.23) and 20th in the 200 free (1:37.81)…Also represented Florida at the 2009 U.S. Short Course Nationals meet in Atlanta…Placed 60th in the 50 free (21.33), 66th (46.67) in the 100-yard free and 72nd in the 200 free (1:42.49) in Atlanta…Finished third in the 50 free (20.36) and second in the 100 free (44.05) as Florida’s highest finisher in the stellar dual meet victory over Tennessee…Closed out the dual meet season with a third-place finish in the 200 free (1:41.02) against his alma mater, Indian River State College, the last home dual of Florida’s season.

Born Raul Martinez on April 11, 1988, in Humacao, Puerto Rico … Son of Raul Martinez and Vanessa Colomer … Has two sisters, Vanessa (25) and Carla (22) …. Chose Florida because it was one of the best swimming programs in the country … Enjoys boating and wakeboarding … Future ambitions include participating in the 2012 Olympic Games … Majoring in international business.
