Competition:
Competed at the 1995 U.S. Olympic Festival...took second in the individual high
point competition at the 1995 Summer Junior Nationals, earning runner-up honors
in both the 50-meter freestyle (23.86) and 200 individual medley (2:08.24),
taking third in the 100 fly (56.52) and winning the consolation final of the
100 free (52.56).
1998-99:
At the NCAA Championships, collected two honorable mention All-American honors
as member of UF's 14th-place 200- and 400 free relay foursomes which finished
in 1:20.50 and 2:56.90, respectively...individually at NCAAs, placed 34th in
the 100 free with career-best time of 44.74...at the SEC Championships, finished
15th in the 100 fly, clocking a career-best time of 48.88...Placed 16th in the
100 free with a then-personal best of 44.75...Additionally, was a member of
three Gator relay teams which recorded fourth-place finishes (200 free relay:
1:20.44; 200 medley relay: 1:28.95; and 400 medley relay: 3:15.11)...Both the
200 medley and 400 medley relay times were season bests for Florida.
1997-98:
At the SEC Championships, posted two then-personal-best times, placing 22nd
in both the 50 free (20.84) and 100 fly (50.04)...also swam on the third-place
200 free relay and fifth-place 200 medley relay and finished 25th in the 100
free (45.84)...named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
1996-97:
At the NCAA Championships, swam on the 11th-place 200 free relay to earn All-America
honorable mention selection...at SECs, placed 18th in the 100 fly (50.23), 21st
in the 100 free (45.55) and 26th in the 200 individual medley (1:53.73)...also
swam on the fourth-place 200- and 400 free relays at the conference meet.
High School:
1996 graduate of Baylor High School...1995 Tennessee Swimmer of the Year...All-American
in the 100-yard freestyle...state record holder in the 100 free, helping Baylor
HS to the state title in 1996...named Most Valuable Swimmer in 1995 and 1996...also
swam for Greater Chattanooga Aquatics Club.

Born Nathan Ryan Swift on Nov. 29, 1976, in Nashville, Tenn...Son of Sid and
Patrice Swift...Honor Roll member at Baylor...wrote for high school newspaper
and was photographer for yearbook...hobbies include water-skiing, sky diving
and guitar...attended same high school as former Gator All-American and 1984
Olympic gold medalist Jeff Gabarino...Gabarino won gold in '84 as member of U.S.
800 free relay...Swift broke Gabarino's 100 free Tennessee state record during
his prep career at Baylor...majoring in advertising.
