The University of Florida faced Georgia Tech in a pair of
matches on Saturday and came away with sweeps in both contests in the Gators’
second weekend of spring competitions.
Florida defeated the Yellow Jackets, a
Sweet 16 team in 2004, 3-0 in the morning session with game scores of 30-21,
30-26, 15-8. In the afternoon, Florida
again won in three with scores of 30-19, 30-24, 30-23.
“We saw a
lot of improvement in a lot of areas,” Florida
coach Mary Wise said. “Amber McCray did a great job of point
scoring both offensively and defensively. Rhian
Davis put together a great performance today. We also saw improvement in
our blocking following last week, which is a compliment to our players because
Georgia Tech runs a very unique offense.”
Florida, which is 6-0 against three teams so far in the spring, will
return to action next Saturday, April 8, when the Gators host Minnesota
and Virginia.
All matches will be played at the LemerandCenter and are open to
the public.
