Udonis Haslem scored 18 points and hauled down 10 rebounds to lead the seventh ranked Florida Gators to an easy 96-61 rout of Florida State in the season opener for both teams. Ted Dupay and Mike Miller scored 15 points apiece while freshman Donnell Harvey debuted with 12 points and 9 rebounds. The Gators built a 52-31 lead at the half. They made nine three-pointers on the night. Gator coach Billy Donovan was pleased with the way his team played. "I thought these guys played for 40 minutes", Donovan said. "It really did make the difference with our depth. Ron Hales is a great player with 24 points, but besides him I thought our guys really, totally wore them down and fatigued them." A record crowd of 12,487 was in attendance at the O-Connell Center. The Gators will now travel to Maui for three games beginning Monday. Florida is scheduled to play Utah State.
