The No. 22 University of
Florida soccer team (10-4-1, 5-2-1 SEC) suffered a 1-0 loss at Southeastern
Conference co-leader
The Rebels got the
game-winning goal at 87:54 when Chrissy Strini crossed the ball into the box.
Gill finished the eight-yard diagonal shot to the far post. The win was the
first for
“When you don’t finish your
chances, this (the loss) happens,” UF Head Coach Becky Burleigh said. “We dominated a large portion of that game but
if you leave a team in it, they will find a way to win it. We were not
committed enough to winning this game. We weren’t committed enough to scoring.
We weren’t committed enough to tackling.”
One of the Gators best
scoring chances of the opening half came in the final three minutes when
freshman Megan Kerns’s 25-yard shot
hit the crossbar and rebounded back into the box. Jessica Young’s shot on the rebound went high.
Next up, the Gators return
home to play host to SEC Western Division opponent LSU on Friday, Oct. 21. Match
time is set for 8 p.m. (ET) at the James G. Pressly Stadium and admission is
