Sunday April 3, 2005Women's Swimming Places Two in Finals at U.S. World Championship Trials

Indianapolis, Ind.

The University of Florida women’s swimming team placed two of its three competing swimmers today into the finals at the 2005 United States World Championship Trials in the IU Natatorium.

 

Sophomore Leah Returm (Columbus, Ind.) raced her way into the “A” final of the women’s 400-meter individual medley. In the finals Retrum qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials as she placed eighth in a time of 4:51.09.  Senior Katie McCann (Walpole, Mass.) took 18th-place in the “C” final by posting a 2008 U.S. Olympic Trial time of 4:53.88.

 

Freshman Natalie Pike (Boca Raton, Fla.) raced to a 32nd-place finish in the women’s 50-meter freestyle event.

 

The 2005 U.S. World Championship Trials continue tomorrow through April 6 at the IU Natatorium.
