Saturday March 12, 2005M & W Divers Complete Day Two at NCAA Zone B Diving Championships
The University of Florida men's and women's diving teams completed the second day of competition at the 2005 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. Despite each diver's best efforts the Gators were unable to add any additional qualifiers for the men's or women's NCAA swimming and diving championships.
Senior Zach Wilcox (Yarrow Point, Wash.) had another good day on the boards as he competed in the men's three-meter springboard event. Having already qualified for NCAA competition in all three events thanks to his finish on the one-meter springboard yesterday, Wilcox posted the sixth-best score in the preliminary round of competition, totaling 377.80 points. In the final of the event, Wilcox placed eighth as he recorded a total score of 535.85.
Sophomore Vitor Assuncao (Orlando, Fla.) joined Wilcox in the men's three-meter springboard event and posted the 12th-best preliminary score of 329.60. In the finals, Assuncao slipped into the No. 18 spot as he finished the event with a total score of 480.00.
Competing in the women's one-meter springboard event, senior Nicole Bolt (Orlando, Fla.) totaled 268.30 points to notch the ninth-best preliminary score in the event. In the finals of the event, Bolt improved her place by moving up one spot with a final score of 539.35.
The 2005 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships conclude tomorrow at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.
