Lindsey Cameron hit her fifth home run of the season in Florida's 14-1 win over Jacksonville.

Lindsey Cameron led the No. 15 Florida Softball team with a 3-for-3 performance and was just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle to lead the Gators to a 14-1 win over Jacksonville University in the USF Louisville Slugger Invitational Friday night. The Gators scored 14 runs on 10 hits in their biggest win since a 13-run win over Centenary on Feb. 2, 2003.

The Dolphins took their only lead of the game in the top of the first inning. Leadoff batter Stephanie Farabee reached on deep infield base hit and Scored on a Rachel Freitag double.

Florida answered with a five-run two-out rally in the bottom of the inning. Cameron got the Gators started with a double to centerfield. Kristen Butler followed with a walk. Melissa Zick reached on an error by the shortstop. Cameron scored Florida’s first run to tie the game on a Mandy Schuerman base hit down the left field line. Savana Kelly followed with a three-run double to right center to give Florida the 4-1 lift. Lauren Roussell walked and both runners advanced on a passed ball. Kelly scored on a Shelley Stevens base hit to put the Gators up by four runs.

The Gators added another run on a Cameron solo homer in the bottom of the fifth.

Florida scored eight runs in the bottom of the third to seal the victory. Roussell led off the inning with a walk. Shelley Stevens followed with an infield base hit. Lindsay Norfleet walked to load the bases. Roussell was thrown out at home as Stacie Pestrak was safe on the fielder’s choice still leaving the bases loaded. Cameron ripped a base hit down the left field line to score Stevens and Norfleet. Pestrak and Cameron stole bases to put runners at second and third. Kristen Butler walked to load the bases again. Zick reached on an error again, allowing Cameron to score and give Florida the eight-run lead necessary to win by the mercy rule.

However, the Gators were not done yet. Kelly earned her fourth and fifth RBI of the game as she scored Cameron and Butler with a base hit through the left side. Roussell finished the Gator scoring as she slammed her first home run of the season over the left centerfield wall to give Florida the 14-1 lead.

Stacey Stevens pitched the win for Florida, improving her record to 6-3 on the season. She struck out seven batters and did not allow a run. Starting pitcher Mandy Schuerman only pitched one inning, struck out three batters and gave up the only Dolphin run of the game.

Cameron and Shelley Stevens were each a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate. Cameron also scored three runs and had three RBI. Kelly went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and five RBI. Roussell was 1-for-1 with two walks and three RBI.

Florida continues Louisville Slugger Invitational play on Saturday with an 11 a.m. game versus Michigan and a 3 p.m. against the host team South Florida.
