Ellis started the Gators rally in the third with a leadoff single. He stole second, and after a walk to Matt Siegel, scored on a RBI single by Peter Nystrom. Florida added a run in the fourth behind Ellis swift feet. With two outs, Ellis singled. He then stole second and third and scored when Stetson catcher Frank Corr threw wild to third.
Florida (25-17) scored another run in the sixth when Mike Floyd doubled home Kurt Keene. UF put the game out of reach in the seventh after Taylor Wood reached on an error by Stetsons Lee Bagley and Ellis singled him home. After hits by Siegel and Catalanotte loaded the bases, Keene hit a sacrifice fly to put Florida up 7-0.
Ben Grezlovski retired the side in the eighth inning, but Stetson avoided being the first team shutout by Florida since 1996 by scoring a run in the ninth off Keith Brice.
