Lindsay Norfleet hit her first career home run in Florida's game one 6-1 win over Northridge.

The Florida softball team ended their five game California road trip with a sweep of Cal State Northridge today at the Matador Diamond. Florida won both games 6-1.

Florida got to business right away in game one, starting its scoring in the top of the second. Lead off batter Melissa Zick reached on an error by the Northridge short stop. She advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on a Lindsey Cameron line drive into left field to give Florida the 1-0 lead.

Northridge answered to tie the game in the bottom of the third frame. Much like the Gators in the second, lead off batter Jan Moshier led off the inning reaching base on an error by the Florida short stop. She advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Shannon Acevedo. Jen Dishner drove Moshier home with a double to left field to tie the game at 1-1.

Florida took the lead again in the top of the fourth. With Kristen Butler on first, Lindsay Norfleet hit her first career home run over the left center field fence to give the Gators the 3-1 lift.

The Gators added three more in the top of the seventh as they batted through the order. Lead off batter Mandy Schuerman knocked a double to the centerfield wall. She advanced to third on a Garner sacrifice. Lauren Roussell reach base on four balls from the Matador pitcher. Schuerman came home on a Mylin Prieto base hit down the left field line. Prieto and Roussell advanced to second and third on a passed ball and scored on a Zick base hit through the left side to put Florida up 6-1 with three outs to go.

Prieto, Schuerman and Butler each went 2-for-3 for Florida in game one. The each scored a run as well. Norfleet and Zick each had two RBI.

Stacey Stevens struck out 11 batters in the win. She caught four batters looking. The game was the third double digit strikeout game of the season for the freshman hurler. Her record now improves to 8-1.

Florida used six hits in a big third inning to take a 5-0 lead in game two. Schuerman started the inning with a lead off walk. Cameron followed with a double to the center field wall. Schuerman reached third and scored on an error by the Matador first baseman as Cameron went to third. Cameron scored on a Jenilee Garner base hit that hugged the left field line. Roussell drew a walk with one out. Prieto followed with a hit to left field. Jenny Gladding out the Gators up 5-0 with a three-run homer over the center field fence.

The lead off Matador batter in the top of the third knocked a Gladding offering out of the park to make the score 5-1.

Florida added another run in the top of the sixth as Schuerman scored on a Garner sacrifice fly to left, putting Florida ahead 6-1.

Jenny Gladding earned the win in game two for Florida. Her record moves to 11-2 on the year.

The Gators went 5-0 this week in their trip out west. They return home Sunday and will play a midweek game in Jacksonville Thursday. Florida resumes Southeastern Conference play at home next weekend as Arkansas comes to town for a Saturday doubleheader and a single game on Sunday. Games both days begin at 1 p.m.
