Lindsey Cameron was 1-for-1 with two walks and the game winning run vs. Cal State Fullerton.

The Florida softball team (22-3) won its third game in three days as they defeated Cal State Fullerton 2-0 in a pitchers duel at the Titan Softball Complex. The Gators did not allow a Titan runner to reach second base through the whole game.

Both pitchers had no hitters going through 5.1 innings. Lindsay Norfleet broke the game open with her base hit through the right side. The Titan right fielder missed her target on an errant throw to first, allowing Norfleet to reach second. Pinch hitter Laura Templeton drew a walk to allow two Gator runners on base for the first time in the game. Norfleet became the first Gator to reach thirds she advanced when Jenilee Garner was hit by a pitch. Lauren Roussell was safe at first on an error by the Titan shortstop and Norfleet crossed the plate to put Florida up 1-0.

Candice Baker killed Gladding’s chances for a no hitter as the fifth inning lead off grabbed a Gladding offering for a base hit up the middle. Gladding was to have no more of that though, as she struck out the next two batters and Norfleet finished the inning as she grabbed a line drive off of Jenna Wheeler’s bat.

Florida allowed only the third Titan runner on base in the sixth inning, but catcher Kristen Butler wasn’t going to let her get any further than first base as she caught Monica Tantlinger attempting to steal second. Another runner reached base on balls, but Gladding struck the next batter out, for her 11th strikeout of the game, to end the inning.

The Gators added an insurance run in the top of the seventh. Leadoff batter Mandy Schuerman walked and advanced to second on a passed ball by the Titan catcher. She scored on a Garner double to left center. Garner turned toward third, but was gunned down from center diving back into second.

Gladding struck out every Titan batter at least once in the win. She finished the game with 12 strikeouts for her ninth double digit strikeout game of the season.

Norfleet had a great day at the plate for the Gators, going 1-for-1 with two walks and scored Florida’s first run.

Florida will wrap up their California road trip tomorrow with a double header at Cal State Northridge. The first game is set for 4 p.m. ET.
