University of Florida’s Karen Freberg won the shot put Friday at the Hoosier Hills meet in Bloomington, Ind. Her throw of 16.89m/55-5.00 is a personal-best mark, the second-best mark in school history and is also an automatic qualifying mark.

Akera Lathan followed with an automatic qualifier and a personal-best mark of 16.76m/55-0.00, which is the fifth-best mark in school history. Kim Barrett finished third (16.48m/54-1.00) and LaQuanda Cotten rounded out the top four with her mark of 15.30m/50-2.50. Jukina Dickerson placed sixth with a throw of 14.33m/47-00.25, and Scarlett Ekeroma finished seventh with a mark of 14.30m/46-11.00.

In the weight throw, Barrett was the top collegiate finisher, placing second overall with an automatic qualifying mark of 22.69m/74-5.50. Cotten followed with an automatic qualifying mark of 21.01m/68-11.25, and Dickerson finished fourth with a throw of 20.50m/67-3.25. In addition to the shot put, Freberg had a strong showing in the weight throw, improving her personal record to 20.00m/65-7.50 with her fifth-place finish. Rachel Longfors placed sixth (19.30m/63-4.00), Ekeroma finished seventh (18.42m/60-5.25) and Jyn Wynn placed eighth (17.80m/58-4.75) as Florida swept the top seven collegiate spots. Also competing in the event for the Gators were Lathan, who finished 10th with a mark of 17.04m/55-11.00 and Sara Cooper, who finished 16th with a mark of 14.63m/48-00.00.

Up next for the Gators is the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships in Lexington, Ky., beginning Friday, Feb. 27.
