Aury Cruz led the Gators with 13 kills against Kentucky Friday

Senior Aury Cruz and sophomore Jane Collymore each registered double-digit kill totals to lead the No. 3 University of Florida volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-14, 30-15, 30-20) win against Kentucky on Friday at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.

Cruz's 13 kills and Collymore's 10 kills helped Florida (21-1, 9-0 SEC) to its 20th consecutive sweep and 21st consecutive win. Cruz also added seven digs against Kentucky (11-10, 3-6 SEC).

Junior Lauren Moscovic turned in a solid match, accounting for 36 of Florida's 41 assists against Kentucky. Moscovic, who celebrated her 20th birthday Friday, had a career-high three service aces. Freshman Amber McCray showed her promise in the third game with two blocks and three kills.

"Every opportunity for the young players to play is a good one," Florida Coach Mary Wise said. "Amber McCray is the future on that right side."

The Gators began the match on an 8-0 run and took a 13-2 lead in the first game on a block by senior Benavia Jenkins. Florida went ahead 25-9 on Collymore's kill after going on a 3-0 run. After failing to convert on two game point attempts, Cruz registered a kill to give Florida the first game.

Florida slowly distanced itself from Kentucky in the second game and took a 10-3 lead on a Moscovic ace. Florida doubled the Wildcats' score, 16-8, on a kill by Jenkins that was part of a 4-0 run. A 10-4 run by the Gators put them ahead 26-12, culminating with a kill from junior Sherri Williams.

Collymore provided a kill for the Gators' first points of the third game and served Florida through a 6-0 run that put it up 7-2. McCray shined during a 5-0 Florida run, which gave it a 22-11 lead, by accounting for two blocks and a kill during that stretch. Junior Michelle Chatman scored the Gators' final two points of the game on kills.

The Gators extend their NCAA-record conference regular season win streak to 123 matches.

Kentucky was led by Danielle Wallace's nine kills, while Jenni Casper added seven digs for the Wildcats.

Florida returns to action Sunday at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center to take on South Carolina at 1:30 p.m.
