Saturday March 15, 2003Divers Compete In Second Day of NCAA Diving Zones
The University of Florida menís and womenís divers competed in the second day of the NCAA Diving Zones with two Gators finishing in the top 10 at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Ala.
Sophomore Zach Wilcox (Yarrow Point, Wash.) finished seventh on the three-meter springboard with a score of 547.60. Wilcox missed the NCAA Championships cut by only two spots as the top five divers qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Junior Kristen Connor (Gainesville, Fla.) had the top finish for the Florida women, as she placed 10th in the three-meter springboard competition with a score of 549.90. Junior Nicole Bolt (Orlando, Fla.) finished in 11th place with a score of 542.85. Freshmen Jessica Ranieri (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) and Maureen McGinty (Orlando, Fla.) finished in 24th and 38th place with scores of 238.85 and 200.10, respectively.
Freshman Chris Comfort (Coral Springs, Fla.) also finished 27th with a score of 251.20.
The event will conclude Sunday with the finals of the women's platform at 10 a.m. and the men's platform at 12:30 p.m.
