With two outs in the inning, freshmen Kristen Butler and Laura Templeton both walked to load the bases. Sophomore Nikki Baldwin’s first hit od the 2003 season was a two-run double to left field to score Schuerman and Butler for the 2-0 lead.
The Gators added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Templeton led off the inning with a base hit to left field. Senior Jennifer Brown came in to pinch run for her at first. Brown advanced to second on a Nikki Baldwin sacrifice bunt and to third on a long fly ball to right field by senior Jackie Marchetta. With two outs, junior Jenilee Garner hit a bunt right down the first base line to score Brown and give the Gators a 3-0 cushion.
