Seattle, WA

Game 29

Florida          75
Penn              61

The Gators overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to post the victory over Ivy League champion, Pennsylvania, in the NCAA First Round contest...Brent Wright recorded his second career double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds as UF outscored the Quakers 43-18 in the second half...Mike Miller shared top scoring honors with 15 points and also corralled seven rebounds...Florida's defense shut down Penn's Jed Ryan, holding him scoreless in the second half after he connected for 22 in the first half, including six three-pointers...The 11-point comeback was the largest halftime comeback since UF rallied from an 18-point halftime deficit on February 24, 1993 at South Carolina...Penn's largest lead was 13 points, marking the biggest deficit Florida has overcome under Billy Donovan...With the win, the Gators improved to 3-3 in NCAA Tournament play when trailing at the half, including victories in each of their last three games when behind at the intermission (1994, Connecticut; 1994 James Madision; 1999 Penn)...After shooting just 57 percent (53-of-93) from the free throw line over the previous four games, the Gators improved against Penn by going 23-of-32 (71.9 percent)...Wright's 12 free throw attempts was the most ever for a UF player in an NCAA Tournament game (the previous record was 11 by Dan Cross vs. Connecticut in 1994)...Wright also set the Gator NCAA record for steals in a game with five, breaking Cross' mark of four steals versus Iowa State in '95).
