Benavia Jenkins (10) tied a career-high with 11 blocks and set a career-high with four solo blocks.

Junior Jacque Robinson (Merced, Calif.) and sophomore Michelle Chatman (Woodridge, Ill.) each tallied a match-high 15 kills, and senior Nicole McCray (Longview, Texas) notched her first double-double of the season with 14 kills and a career-high 16 digs as the No. 6 Florida Gator volleyball team defeated Oral Roberts Saturday 3-1 (3-19, 22-30, 30-16, 30-25).

In game one, Michelle Chatman put the Gators (4-1) on the board first with a kill on the first serve of the match. Florida went on a 4-0 run to take a 7-3 lead. With the Gators holding a 17-13 lead, Florida opened up a 7-0 run with the serving of Nicole McCray and the play of Benavia Jenkins (Fort Pierce, Fla.). Of the seven consecutive points run off by the Gators, Jenkins was responsible in part for five with three blocks and two kills. Florida saw its largest lead come late in the game at 24-13. Oral Roberts (3-2) would not get any closer than nine as the Gators took the first game 30-19.

In the second game, Florida again scored first, this time on a solo block by McCray. Oral Roberts took a 5-2 lead and would not lose that lead. The Golden Eagles saw their largest lead come at 28-17, but with the serving of McCray, the Gators rattled off five points to move within six at 28-22 before losing the serve. Oral Roberts evened up the match at 1-1 with a 30-22 win in game two.

Game three saw the Gators regain control of the tempo after falling behind early 2-0. After a 4-4 tie, Florida took the lead for good behind Robinson, Chatman and McCray early in the game. Behind McCray, who earned her first double-double of the season with six kills in game three, the Gators closed out the game with a 13-4 run, capped off by a Jenkins kill.

In the final game, Florida scored first and never relinquished its lead. With an 11-8 lead, the Gators went on a 6-1 run to move ahead by eight at 17-9. Florida's largest lead of the game came at 20-12 off a Jane Collymore (Engelwood, Colo.) kill. After the Gators built a 28-22 lead, Oral Roberts made a small comeback, but Florida won 30-25.

Four Gators registered double digits in kills, and Florida out-blocked Oral Roberts 18-5.

  • Nicole McCray recorded her first double-double of the season with 14 kills and a career-high 16 digs.
  • Michelle Chatman recorded a career-high 15 kills, tying Jacque Robinson for the match-high in kills.
  • Benavia Jenkins tallied four solo blocks, a career-high, and tied a career-high with 11 total blocks. Jenkins also recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 11 blocks.
  • Lauren Moscovic also recorded a double-double, with 53 assists and 14 digs.
  • The Gators combined for a season-high 70 kills on the match and registered a season-high 18 blocks.
