Florida softball lost their final game of the Louisiana Classic Softball
tournament to Northwestern State, 6-3. Florida moves to 11-8 on the
season.
Northwestern State opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning.
Annie Johnston stole home after reaching on a double and advancing to
third on a sacrifice.
Florida answered back to tie the game at 1-1in the top of the third
inning. Ashlie Goble hit a single to the left side. She advanced to third
on a Mandy Schuerman double down the left line. Goble scored as Jackie
Marchetta grounded out to the second baseman.
The Gators added another run to take the 2-1 lead in the top of the
fourth. Bree Berger hit a solo homer dead over centerfield for the
lead.
The Demons scored three runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth to
take a 4-2 lead. Berger brought Florida within one with her second home
run of the game in the top of the sixth. The Gators weren't able to get
any closer however, as the Demons scored two more runs in the bottom of
the sixth Kiana Scott home run with a runner on second. The Gators
threatened in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with two outs, but
weren't able to bring a run home.
Amanda Moore took the loss for Florida, moving her record to 5-5 on the
season.
Florida has the week off before traveling to Los Angeles, Calif. To take
on Purdue, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and UCLA in the Easton Classic.
