Florida had several scoring opportunities early in the match, but it wasnt until senior Melissa Pini juggled the ball for a short shot from the left side at 39:06 that UF got on the scoreboard. The Gators out-shot the Golden Knights 15-4 in the opening half.
Senior Erin Baxter opened UFs scoring in the second half in the 71st minute with 15-yard shot left of net, off an assist from freshman Karyn Hall. Two Gators playing in their first UF match connected for Floridas final goal in the 83rd minute. Freshman Keisha Bell sent a long cross to freshman Abby Wambach, who sent a header in for the goal. For the match, UF totaled 25 shots, while UCF posted five.
Next up, the Gators travel to College Station, Texas, to meet No. 11 Texas A&M on Friday, Sept. 4. Game time is set for 8 p.m. (ET).
