New Orleans, La.

The men's team was ranked third in the South Region rankings by USTFCCCA.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its Preseason Regional Rankings on Monday. In the South Region, the menís team ranked third, while the women were selected eighth.

Last season, the Gator men took second at the South Region Championships, earning a spot at the NCAA Championships. Florida had three runners, Mark Parrish, Jimmy Clark and Eddie Garcia earn USTFCCCA All-South Region accolades by placing in the top-25. Parrish won the race, becoming the second Gator ever to win the South Region Championship, and was also named USTFCCCA South Region Athlete of the Year.

Clark followed closely behind Parrish and took second, while Garcia finished ninth.

The women placed fourth last year, increasing their streak of consecutive years finishing in the top-five at the South Region Championship to nine years.

Cory McGee and Agata Strausa led the charge for the women. McGee finished second while Strausa took ninth. Sophomore Taylor Tubbs finished in 33rd during her true freshman season.

In the menís division, Florida State was picked first and Auburn was chosen second. On the womenís side, Florida State was tabbed first, with Vanderbilt and Alabama rounding out the top three.

NCAA Division I Regional Championships will be held around the country Friday, Nov. 14.

USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team strength with current-season results in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA Regional Championships.

The Gators open their season on Friday when they travel to Cullowhee, N.C., for the Western Carolina Invite. It will mark the fourth-straight year the team has opened at the Western Carolina Invite. During that span, the Gators have won the team title on both the menís and womenís side every year
