The Gators earned academic team honors from the IWLCA for a fifth-straight year.

The Florida Gators lacrosse team has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) on Monday for its academic success. The Gators are one of 254 schools across the NCAA’s Division I, II and III named as a 2014 Academic Honor Squad.

In total, 84 teams from Division I were awarded. Since their inaugural season in 2010, the Gators have been recognized by the IWLCA on its annual Academic Honor Squad list every year.

“I am very proud of our team,” said head coach Amanda O’Leary. “We always stress the importance of academics and balancing school work with athletic commitments. Our young women do a phenomenal job balancing academics and athletics, and this honor is a credit to their hard work.”

To be recognized, a school must have a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
