Gainesville, Fla.

The 2014-15 men's tennis schedule has been announced.

The University of Florida men’s tennis schedule for the 2014-15 season features two fall tournaments held at the Ring Tennis Complex and four home matches versus teams from last year’s national championship draw. After reaching the Round of 16 last year, the Gators look to advance even further in the 2015 postseason by playing a challenging regular-season slate.

FALL TENNIS FIX

Gator fans will have two opportunities to catch the men’s team in action on its home court this fall. UF will host the Southeastern Conference Fall Invitational on Friday, Sept. 19 through Monday, Sept. 22.Texas, North Carolina State and the University of Miami will visit the Gators on Friday, Nov. 7 to kick off the Florida Invitational (Nov. 7-9).

TO BE THE BEST…

Florida will face four opponents at home that competed in last year’s NCAA Championship, including SEC rival Georgia, which also advanced to the NCAA Round of 16. In their last home match of the regular season, the Gators will earn a shot at redemption, when they face the defending SEC Tournament Champions, Texas A&M. The Aggies topped the Orange and Blue for the crown in 2014. UF will close out the regular season on the road with matches at Kentucky and Tennessee, conference competitors who advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championship last year.

SHELTON’S NOTES

Head coach Bryan Shelton has arranged a schedule that will present the Gators with an opportunity to make a deep run into 2015.

“We have one of the most demanding schedules in the country this coming year.  We have two great events scheduled for the fall that we will play at home in front of our boosters; and our spring season is heavily loaded with great matches. Outside of our challenging conference matches, we will have the opportunity to play NCAA Champion USC, as well as UCLA, Ohio State, Stanford and Florida State. It’s a great schedule that will help us improve and put us in position to do great things in the postseason.”
