Sinead Russell competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The University of Florida has three Gators competing at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. The three UF swimmers include Dan Wallace (Scotland), Sebastien Rousseau (South Africa), Corey Main (New Zealand) and Sinead Russell (Scotland). They each are competing at the Games for their native counties.

“I’m happy with how everyone did this weekend,” head coach Gregg Troy said. “This is a great opportunity for them to compete at a high level and represent their country.”

The Gators have been led by Dan Wallace as he captured the gold medal in the 400-meter individual medley with a personal-best time of 4:11.20. In addition, Wallace placed fourth in the 400-meter freestyle in another career-best time of 3:46.11.

Rousseau earned a trio of bronze medals as he placed third in the 400-meter IM (4:13.09), 200-meter butterfly (1:56.43) and 200-meter freestyle relay. Main has competed in the 100-meter backstroke (54.40) and the 100-meter freestyle relay (3:19.88).

Russell competed in the 100 and 200-meter backstroke races where she posted times of 1:00.27 and 2:12.61, respectively.

“Dan (Wallace) did an outstanding job and so did Sebastien with the medals they took home,” Troy said in closing. “Hopefully these good performances continue.”
