Tomlinson one of two Gators recognized for their achievements in the classroom and on the course.

Rising seniors Eric Banks (Truro, Canada) and J.D. Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.) were named NCAA Division I Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

 

To qualify for this honor, a player must be a junior or senior, have competed in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participated in at least 50 percent of his teamís competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0, have maintained a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2, be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

 

During the 2013-14 Gator menís golf season, Banks averaged 73.50 strokes through 30 overall rounds of play, assisted by a successful spring when he led the team with a 72.17 average. Tomlinson, who represented the Gators at the NCAA East Regional, led Florida on the season by averaging 72.55 strokes through 36 rounds, completing 14 of those rounds at or under par.

 

The Southeastern Conference placed 19 players from 13 of its 14 teams on the list, with Florida being one of five teams having multiple players recognized.
