Gainesville, Fla.

Bradley Beal and Chandler Parsons will vie for a spot on the USA Basketball Men's National Team.

After head coach Billy Donovan won gold with USA Basketball this summer, two more Gator greats are in line for an opportunity to keep the Gator pipeline to the Red, White and Blue alive.

Chandler Parsons and Bradley Beal are among 19 players who will be on the USA Basketball Men's National Team 2014-16 roster and participate in the World Cup training camp July 28-August 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That announcement caps an eventful weekend for Parsons, who was named as one of two final additions to the USA squad less than 24 hours after learning he would be joining the Dallas Mavericks with a reported 3-year, $46 million contract. Parsons, a four-year letterman at UF, has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the first three years of his professional career. After developing into the 2011 SEC Player of the Year for the Gators, he has gone from a second-round draft pick in 2011 to a sought-after free agent and potential national representative in 2014.

Beal, whose one season in the Orange & Blue shows there are many paths to success in Gainesville, has also been on the NBA fast track. In his second season as a Washington Wizard, Beal ranked as one of the NBA's top 40 scorers last season (39th, 17.1 ppg). He heads into the training camp with USA Basketball championship experience, leading the USA to a gold medal as the MVP of the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championships. The St. Louis native averaged 18.3 points and shot 47.7 percent from long distance at that event the summer before enrolling at Florida.

Parsons and Beal will compete for one of 12 roster spots to represent the USA at the 2014 FIBA World Cup, which features 24 national teams and will be held August 30-September 14 in Spain. The USA World Cup Team will play its preliminary round games in Bilbao, Spain, after being drawn into Group C along with teams from the Dominican Republic, New Zealand, Turkey and Ukraine.

That event will be preceded by exhibition games in Chicago (August 16 vs. Brazil), New York (August 20 vs. Dominican Republic and August 22 vs. Puerto Rico) and Gran Canaria, Spain (August 26 vs. Slovenia).
