Michael Alford earned 2014 ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.

The University of Florida men’s tennis squad was named an All-Academic Team, as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its list of 2014 All-Academic Teams Thursday.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA member program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, or CA JUCO eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2013 and spring 2014).

Additionally, Florida’s Michael Alford and Maxx Lipman both earned individual ITA Scholar-Athlete status for upholding a personal grade point average of at least 3.50 or above (on a 4.00 scale) as well as earing a varsity letter in their respective sport, having been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters.

This year’s honors mark the first ITA All-Academic accolades earned under head coach Bryan Shelton who will begin his third year as head coach at UF this season.
