Three University of Florida football players were named to the preseason watch lists for two national awards on Thursday, as announced by the Football Writers Association of America. Offensive lineman D.J. Humphries was named to the 2014 Outland Trophy Watch List, while defensive lineman Dante Fowler, Jr. and defensive back Vernon Hargreaves III both were named to the 2014 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List.

The Outland Trophy is awarded annually by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee to the best interior lineman in college football, while the Bronko Nagurski Trophy is presented each year by the FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club to the national defensive player of the year. The winners are chosen from finalists who are part of the FWAA All-America Team. Semifinalists for the Outland Trophy will be named on Nov. 20 and narrowed to a list of three finalists four days later. The five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be announced on Nov. 20.

The winner of the 69th Outland Trophy will be announced on ESPN on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 11 from Disney’s Boardwalk in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The 21st annual Bronko Nagurski Trophy Banquet will be held on Dec. 8 at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte. The Outland Trophy presentation banquet will be held on Jan. 15, 2015, in Omaha, Neb.
