SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- 2014 NCAA Champion and The Bowerman Award Semifinalist Dedric Dukes used a 20.46 in the first round of the 200m at the 2014 USA Outdoor Championships in Sacramento to qualify for Sunday semifinals of the event.

 

Should Dukes the only collegian to go under 20 seconds in 2014 advance after 11:30 a.m. semis, finals are slated for just two and a half hours later at approximately 2 p.m. (PST). Dukes went a wind-aided 19.91 to claim the NCAA outdoor title with the fourth-fastest run ever at NCAAs, and his wind-legal 19.97 is the second-fastest in the world this season. Senior Cory McGee will wrap up UFs competitors at 2014 USA Outdoors with finals of the 1500m at 2:40.

 

In other action across the globe, Gator junior quartermiler Hugh Graham, Jr. (45.57) advanced to finals of the 400m at the Jamaica National Senior Trials at National Stadium in Kingston as the top qualifier.

 

At the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN)/ Cross River State All-Nigeria Athletics in Calabar, 2014 senior Sean Obinwa won the 800m to represent Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Former Gator Ugonna Ndu was the runner-up in the 100mH (13.57), also qualifying for Glasgow. In the Bahamas, sophomore hurdler Moriel Pitt solidified a third-place finish (14.27) in the mens open 110H at the 2014 BTC Combined Nationals Saturday Nassau.
