A dozen top-10 finishes in national championship action Ė including a pair of NCAA titles - led the University of Florida athletics program to its third consecutive second-place finish in the Learfield Sports Directorsí Cup. The 2013-14 finish matches Floridaís highest ever in the annual all-sports rankings and marks Floridaís sixth consecutive top-four finish. A total of 12 Florida teams finished among the nationís top 10 in 2013-14.

The Learfield Sports Directorsí Cup, presented annually by the nationís athletics directors, recognizes the schools with the best overall sports performances in an academic year. Points are awarded based on finishes and participation in 20 NCAA Division I sports. Stanford received its 20th consecutive Directorsí Cup at the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) convention earlier this month.

Points for baseball are yet to be officially awarded by NACDA as the NCAA College World Series is still being played in Omaha. The point totals below include a programís points for baseball. Floridaís total (including baseball) sets the Gator program in the final position of second.

UF Athletics Director Jeremy Foley says:

ďIt was a season of many Gator celebrations. Watching the softball team win their first NCAA trophy and the gymnasts take their second straight certainly was exciting. Finishing second in the Directorsí Cup requires many Gator teams to advance and perform well in NCAA Championshipsí competition. We know that isnít easy. It is the result of much effort and preparation by both our student-athletes and coaches. We thank them for giving Gators everywhere reasons to cheer throughout the year.Ē

2014 Individual NCAA Champions for the Gators:

Individually, eight Gators claimed a total of eight NCAA individual titles in 2014. Junior Marquis Dendy is the first since 2002 to win both the NCAA Outdoor long and triple jump titles. He also joined Antwan Wright, Hugh Graham, Jr., Arman Hall to anchor FloridaĎs second consecutive NCAA champion 4x100-meter relay team. Junior Fawn Miller set the 2014 collegiate-best and a personal record (58.13m/190-8) to take the NCAA javelin title.

Senior Marcin Cieslak completed his collegiate career by winning the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley titles at the NCAA Swimming Championships. Sophomore gymnast Bridget Sloan collected the third NCAA individual title of her career with her uneven bars win.
