Oklahoma City

Kelsey Stewart and Michelle Moultrie will compete next week for a spot on the USA Softball Women's National Team.

After leading Florida to its first national championship in program history this week, infielder Kelsey Stewart accepted an invitation to the USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Camp, the Amateur Softball Association announced on Friday. Former Gator All-American Michelle Moultrie also will participate in the four-day camp, which begins Monday in Lynchburg, Va.

Named a First Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, Stewart set a Florida single-season record for hits with 102, breaking Moultrie’s mark of 101 set in 2011. The second-year player became the first Gator to record multiple seasons of 30 stolen bases in a career, and her two-year batting average of .408 (192x471) is the highest in school history (minimum 200 at-bats). The Wichita, Kan., native began the season with a program-record 41-game reached-base streak, and garnered First Team All-SEC and Second Team All-Southeast Region honors. Stewart led the Gators this season in average (.438), hits, runs scored (68), doubles (T-1st, Munro – 14), triples (six), total bases (149) steals (36) and assists (114). In addition, she finished among the team leaders in RBI (third, 57), slugging percentage (second, .639) and on-base percentage (second, .494).

A two-time All-American (2011-12) at UF, Moultrie was a member of the USA Softball Women’s National Team in 2011 and 2012. The Jacksonville, Fla., native led the Red, White and Blue to gold medals at the 2011 World Cup of Softball and the 2011 Pan American Games. Moultrie holds the Orange and Blue single-season records for hitting (.443, 2011) and on-base percentage (.519, 2011), along with the career mark for stolen bases (83). She left UF as the single-season record-holder for steals (31, 2011) and the career standard-bearer for hitting (.385) before Stewart surpassed her in both categories.

Following the selection camp, the USA Softball athletes will participate in exhibition games at three sites: Lynchburg, Va., (June 13), Findlay, Ohio (June 17) and Purcellville, Va. (June 19). Tickets for these exhibition contests can be purchased at USASoftball.com. After the three-city tour is complete, USA Softball will announce the Women’s National Team roster on June 22.
