Five Gators were named to ILWomen Postseason teams

Shannon Gilroy was named to the All-ILWomen Team, while Taylor Bresnahan, Sammi Burgess, Caroline Fitzgerald and Mollie Stevens earned spots on the ILWomen All-Rookie Team. Florida’s four freshmen on the All-Rookie team ties North Carolina for the most from one school.

 

Gilroy, a 2014 Tewaaraton Finalist, led the nation in goals (86) this season. She also led Florida in points (106), assists (20), draw controls (82) and caused turnovers (24), while recording 24 ground balls. This season, Gilroy set or tied 13 program records and became the first Gator to score 100+ points in a single season.

 

The junior was named the 2014 ALC Midfield Player of the Year, ALC Tournament MVP and was an All-ALC First Team selection. She was also named a Honda Sports Award nominee, IWLCA First Team All-American, WomensLax.com All-American and the WomensLax.com Midfielder of the Year.

 

Bresnahan is just one of two freshman to start in all 21 of Florida’s games this season and was named to the ALC All-Tournament Team and the IWLCA All-South team. She finished the season tied for second on the team in caused turnovers (22) and also tallied 24 ground balls, 19 draw controls, two goals and an assist.

 

Burgess started all but one game this season and ranked second for the Gators with 38 goals and 53 points. She also recorded 15 assists, 26 ground balls and 16 draw controls. Burgess was named the 2014 ALC Rookie of the Year and was an All-ALC Second Team and IWLCA All-South selection.

 

Fitzgerald also started every game for Florida this season and was an All-ALC Second Team and IWLCA All-South selection. She tied for second on the team with 22 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls, while also picking up 9 draw controls.

 

Stevens played in all 21 games for Florida, starting 17. She finished the season ranked third for Florida with 36 goals, and also notched 38 points, 27 ground balls, 8 draw controls and 7 caused turnovers.
