The Gators welcome Florida A&M, UCF and Stetson to Gainesville for this weekend's NCAA Regional.



Ranked No. 6 in the USA Today/NFCA and / USA Softball polls, the University of Florida softball team will host Florida A&M, Stetson and UCF this weekend in the NCAA Tournament Gainesville Regional. UF is the No. 5 national seed, and this is the 12th consecutive year Florida has hosted an NCAA Regional. Gators Keep No. 1 Ranking in Latest NCAA RPI
Florida remains No. 1 in the latest Ratings Percentage Index, released Monday by the NCAA. The Gators are one of four Southeastern Conference teams in the index’s top 10, including the top three squads. UCF checks in at No. 27, while Stetson is 35th and Florida A&M is No. 220.


UF Owns Six Regional Titles in Last Seven Years

Florida has won its regional six times since 2007, including a perfect 3-0 record on four occasions (2007, 2009, 2010, and 2013). The Gators had not advanced out of Regionals prior to Head Coach Tim Walton’s arrival before the 2006 season.


A Look at the Gators’ Postseason History

The Gators are 71-55 (.563) all-time in postseason games. This includes a 22-24 (.478) record in the SEC Tournament and a 49-31 (.613) mark in the NCAA Tournament.


Gator Bites—Setting Up the Regional
Florida is 45-11 (15-9 SEC), while Friday opponent Florida A&M has a 25-27 (9-6 MEAC) record… UCF enters the tournament at 41-16 (15-3 The American), and Stetson is 38-12 (17-8 Atlantic Sun)… The Gators lead the all-time series with FAMU 11-0, while holding a 14-3 advantage over the Knights and a 12-2 lead against the Hatters.


Looking Back: SEC Tournament

Florida fell to No. 11 Georgia, 2-0, last Thursday in an SEC Tournament quarterfinal in Columbia, S.C. The Gators lost to the Bulldogs for the first time in the last four meetings, and dropped to 3-3 all-time in the teams’ postseason history.


Next Up

The Gainesville Regional winner advances to a Super Regional against the winner of the Seattle Regional, which includes No. 12 seed Washington (33-13), Iona (24-22), BYU (33-21) and Northwestern (33-16).
