Florida (34-18/19-8 SEC) enters the final week of the regular season with a two-game lead over Ole Miss (37-15/17-10 SEC) in the race for the league title and has a three-game advantage on South Carolina and Vanderbilt in the Eastern Division…The Gators will host USF (25-26/10-14 American) on Tuesday night at McKethan Stadium before heading to Knoxville for a Thursday-Saturday series at Tennessee (29-20/11-16 SEC)…UF is seeking the program’s 13th SEC Championship, first since 2011, and is trying to secure its 22nd SEC Eastern Division crown…After claiming the opener with No. 10 Vanderbilt on ESPNU’s Thursday Night Baseball, 1-0, the Gators dropped the next two contests to the Commodores, 3-0 and 16-2…It marked the first series loss at home for Florida this year in league action after defeating Arkansas (2-1) and sweeping LSU, Georgia and Missouri…Junior catcher Taylor Gushue continues to lead the squad in the “Triple Crown” categories with a .316 batting average, 42 RBI and five homers and is hitting .361 with 22 RBI in SEC play…Freshman right-hander Logan Shore and junior left-hander Bobby Poyner combined on a two-hit shutout as Florida downed the Commodores in game one…Shore (7-2, 1.47) yielded two singles over 7.1 innings and registered a career-high eight strikeouts to capture his fourth-straight start, while Poyner (4-3, 3.83) set down all five batters he faced and totaled three strikeouts to collect his fourth save…UF established a school record with its 12th-consecutive victory in league play and posted its seventh shutout of the campaign…Gushue drove in the game’s lone run in the first inning with a two-out RBI single off of junior Tyler Beede (7-6)…Sophomore Richie Martin (.281, 41 R, 23 RBI) drew a walk with one down, went to second on a grounder by sophomore Harrison Bader (.297, 17 RBI) and scored on Gushue’s base-hit…The Gators improved to 14-6 in one-run games with the triumph…Sophomore right-hander Carson Fulmer threw a complete-game four-hitter as Vanderbilt evened the series on Friday night, 3-0…The Commodores used a three-run fifth inning to end the Gators’ SEC winning streak…It was just the second all year that the Orange and Blue had been held scoreless…Freshman LHP Kirby Snead (2-0, 2.30) was a bright spot for the hosts, tossing 4.2 scoreless frames to match his career-long stint…The southpaw has not allowed a run in 11 appearances dating back to April 6 at Kentucky…Vanderbilt used an eight-run first inning on its way to a 16-2 win on Saturday…UF recognized its three seniors in pregame ceremonies, right-hander Keenan Kish, first baseman/outfielder Zack Powers and right-hander Karsten Whitson…Martin connected on his first career homer in the eighth into the left-field bleachers to put the Gators on the board and freshman Buddy Reed (3-for-4) had an RBI single to drive in freshman Peter Alonso (.276, 25 RBI) in the ninth inning…Reed went 4-for-9 (.444) in the series with Vanderbilt, while Bader and Martin were each 3-for-10 (.300)…Florida is hitting .266 overall as a team, has compiled a 3.33 ERA and is fielding at .974…Led by Martin’s 15 stolen bases in 17 attempts, the Gators are 45-of-63 on the basepaths…Seven different pitchers have accounted for the club’s 18 saves, with junior RHP Ryan Harris (2-1, 2.84) leading the way with five saves.
