Gainesville, Fla.

Florida is one of two SEC softball teams to recieve APR recognition from the NCAA.

In addition to its athletic success, the University of Florida softball team is excelling academically. Florida received recognition from the NCAA on Wednesday for an Academic Progress Rate that ranks in the top 10 percent of all Division I softball teams.

The Gators are one of two SEC softball teams to receive this honor, which UF’s men’s and women’s basketball teams also garnered. The APR is updated each semester to measure the academic progress of all scholarship student-athletes.

Current Florida players who were named to last year’s SEC Academic Honor Roll include Briana Little, Kirsti Merritt, Aubree Munro, Hannah Rogers and Taylor Schwarz. The conference honor roll for the 2014 season will be released at a later date.
